Well aware of that Carl. Just like we won't be landing Howard or any other superstar this summer with what we have. Calm down man.

Can't wait for the inevitable "We ALMOST got Lemarcus article" .... leaked by the Rockets staff of course.

Unlike some fans the Rockets front office is not that clueless. LA is about as untouchable as any player in this league short of LBJ.

Come to think of it when is the inevitable discussion going to appear championing taking LBJ off of Miami's hand to free up Bosh and Wade?

    Just kidding of course ;)

All I want is for the Rockets is for them to get younger and acquire some frontcourt help and athleticism that will put us in a position to compete a few years down the road. This team isn't ready to go to war with anybody and going for old, tired legs and one year rentals is only going to set this team back further.

And more and more fans are realizing this based on declining attendance. What sucks is that there are two or three guys in this draft who could turn out to be something special, and we don't have a chance to get any of them. The answer to why is in my sig.

GMs seem to be saying there's only one franchise guy in this draft.

Just a quick note. The Rockets were one of 6 NBA franchises to post a profit last year. And that network deal is certainly not going to hurt. But profit sharing may work against that added income to some degree.

So coolio - what do you think about Atlanta's Smith? UFA next year, openly stating that he wants to move on, and 2 years ago saying that the Rockets would be an acceptable destination?

My take on this draft is that there are maybe 6 or more people who could turn out to be something special. But, barring injury, there is only one sure thing.

Well, Smith has been trying to get out of Atlanta for quite sometime now and I'm not exactly sure why he's still with the team. Either Atlanta hasn't been able to field any acceptable offers or Atlanta simply doesn't want to move him. Atlanta is the perfect case of a team over-committing to second-tier stars in hopes of building a contender only to be stuck running around in circles.

Personally, I would welcome a Josh Smith signing with Houston, so long as we don't have to pay him what Gasol is making. I like the tenacity he brings on the defensive end and he is a heck of a shot-blocker. He's the type of defensive force the Rockets could use at the 3/4 position as he possesses good enough size and elite athleticism that the Rockets severely lack. His shot selection could be better, but overall I think he is the type of player the Rockets could use. Hopefully, he wouldn't be designated as our primary option on offense, but I like the skills that Smith brings to the table. Given his age, I think the Rockets would be moving a step in the right direction by going after him.

Gonna have to agree with you on this one. Anthony Davis is the only sure thing in this draft and teams are pretty much betting on upside with a good number of candidates. A player I think the Rockets could potentially nab at the 16th pick is Tony Wroten. He's 6'6" and possesses great athleticism and can play both guard positions. I've watched him play in person and his court vision is what separates him from the rest of this class. The fact that he is willing to play at both ends of the floor is another aspect of his game that I really like. Big fan of Tony Wroten.

I totally agree. He would add significant athleticism and defense. The Hawks have $61 million committed next season to 6 players. There might be opportunity there. And with the luxury tax I believe the days of $20 million per year contracts is over. I think next season he is owed $10.? million dollars.

I'll take Al Horford off of Atlanta's hands while we're at it hahah. It's probably a good thing the $20 million dollar a year type deals are gonna be harder to come by. If we can get Josh Smith at a figure relatively close to what he is making now, I'd say it's definitely worth the gamble. He's one of the few guys in the league that have the size, strength, and athleticism to check a guy like LeBron James. The other would be Andre Igoudala, but I like the fact that Josh Smith is bigger and younger and can cover 3 positions if need be.

Do you think we would need a long term contract or can we risk a one and done?

So, would you trade cap, a pick and some combination of Lowry (assuming we can ink Dragic) and maybe a role player such as PPat for him? That may be too high.

Well, I would do everything in my power to keep my younger (more valuable) assets (i.e. Lowry) and try to deal Scola or Martin first. Joe Johnson isn't getting any younger and since he is pretty much immovable with that bloated contract of his, I think the Hawks might bite at a deal of Scola and one of our first round picks OR Scola and one of our younger prospects like Morris, Budinger, or Patterson as you had suggested earlier. I think that would be a fair deal for both sides and would benefit both teams.

I would trade Lowry for a big, but I think Jeff Teague pretty much has that PG role on lock with Atlanta. I don't think they'd go for the Lowry deal.

You missed the sarcasm, we are the team of almosts:

    Almost got Amare
    Almost got Melo
    Almost got DWill
    Almost got Howard
    Almost got Nene

Did I miss anyone? It honestly is starting to become a joke, nothing EVER comes true that was leaked, nothing.
