And you're obsessed with "my guy"ism. You continue to act like this is exclusive to Kubiak and Phillips. This is SOP for, oh... every single professional coach ever in the entire history of ever.

This is a high-stress, high-stakes game (relatively speaking) where results are often the bottom line. These guys want players they can trust, who know their system and, more importantly, have bought into their system. There's nothing wrong with this, and there's absolutely no reason to recast history. If they thought Ryans could play in their system, he would have played in their system. Again: high-stress/high-stakes. Winning is all that matters.

If Wade Phillips/Reggie Herring think Bradie James can be upgrade... they've forgotten more about football that everyone on this board will ever know combined. And their personnel track record here has been borderline sparkling and hard to argue.

 

I'm not saying we should blitz the MLB on every down. I'm not saying we should blitz the MLB ever.

I'm just saying that Ryans, while ROCK-SOLID at the MLB position for the majority of his time in Houston, isn't the irreplaceable future HOF'er, face of the franchise that some people here think he is.

I don't think saying that is "****ting on him after he's gone" either...

We're not throwing him under the bus, but Demeco has not been the same player since his achilles injury. Before Sharpton went down last season, they were pretty much splitting snaps. He was certainly replaceable and if you don't see that he was no longer the Demeco of the past, you are blind

confidentiality is of most importance. they cannot allow media to have secrets of glorious 3-4 or play action!

 

Achilles injuries typically take two years to heal completely. It will not surprises me if Ryans beasts this season in Phili. I know he was a cap casualty but the Demeco you saw last year will not be the same Demeco you see this year, Guaranteed. When he's a Pro bowler again what will folk here do? Flip flop and congratulate I hope.

 

Bradie was a nice pickup. He's still got the skill to be a very good run-stopping 3-4 ILB.

As long as you don't rely on him in coverage too much (which I don't think will be a problem for you guys).

I will congratulate because no matter how he plays in Phili, we will still have one of the best defenses in the league next year. And that's all I really care about.

DeMeco WILL pile up tackles in Philly, there is no doubt about that. Of Course when your defense is on the field longer, you get the chance the chance to make more tackles (last year Indy led the league in tackles, dead last was...the Texans). DeMeco will help keep the defense on the field because of his terrible pass coverage. So many times I saw him playing some zone coverage like he was lost and QB's just flipping the ball over, around, past him to slot WRs /TEs. He hasn't had an interception since 2007, which kind of goes to prove my point. They never played him in man coverage on pass defense, because if they did, we got burned.

I don't hate DeMeco, and I wish him well. I hope he does have another Pro Bowl season, but that will not prove me wrong.

 

All I know is, my Cowboys friends tell me you don't ever want James in coverage.

 

that's cool. Ryans wasn't a coverage backer - he was a tackling MLB specialist and he is gone. ..Herring obviously feels more comfortable with this (his) guy, and James can play the run (i.e. make tackles) well from what I heard. so in the end, it seems to be a fair assessment from Reggie

 

Lets talk **** about a guy after he is gone. Its seems to be a Houston tradition. Herring is probably not very smart like most football people, but at least think before you speak.

 

I think he got a chance. He started 16 games and was on the field quite a bit. He may improve this next year, but it would have been a bit of a high priced gamble to make in my opinion. After the the year the Defense had under Wade, I'm not going to second guess any moves Wade or the Texans make at this time. If Brady doesn't perform as well as DeMeco did last year, then I'm sure the Texans will hear it from the fans. Always tough to see a fan favorite go, but we did get a 4th round pick out of it, so we did something of value in return. I'll admit, I was concerned that Demeco wasn't going to ever return to what he was before his injury.

Kinda stupid of Herring to even comment on the situation, other than to say that they were happy to pick up Brady. Brady will probably just hold the position down until we get our next star LB.

Dont get the NFL confused with highschool. Like any other multi billion dollar business it has its share of "smart" people. Even the football only people are smarter than most football people you would see in your local high school.
