It reignited memories of Yao days when he would fight so hard for position and finally get pretty low on the block, only to have the guy trying to make the entry pass swing the ball to the other side of the court for no apparent reason.
The commentator was saying that it looked like a flagrant 2 right before the Haslem foul occurred. A flagrant foul-penalty (2) is unnecessary and excessive contact committed by a player against an opponent. Like I mentioned, it has nothing to do with if the foul was intentional or not.
This is what I don't understand about this series and the fan/media perception. The Pacers are mediocre at best. No stars, no apparent offensive flow or identity. Poorly coached. Doubt they'd have more wins than the Jazz in the West. And I'm supposed to be amazed by LeBron and Wade - two superstars - for narrowly scraping by against this bunch in Game 4 to tie the series? If there's one thing I'll give the Heat credit for, they've lowered the bar substantially for themselves.
Yes, there are actually worse players on the Heat. Hard to believe Mike Miller and Haslem were signed to cheap great deals. Oops. Miller hasn't been healthy in forever, and has lost the great stroke he once had.
Indy deserves to be down. You can't leave Battier THAT wide open because he was struggling. Well, he's not struggling anymore, complements of the Pacers.
In the rulebook, no. In practicality, it does. Here's the flagrant 1 definition: That sounds just like the Hansbrough play too. It's intentionally vague so that it can be left up to the official to use his own discretion. And to toss a player from a playoff game on the rationale of what MIGHT happen if the OTHER team retaliates is just ludicrous. By that logic, load up your team with Ron Artest-types to intimidate officials into ejecting opponents for fear of "retaliation".
Honestly, it's Hansborough's fault for not flopping like a b**** like DWade did. He instead took it and got up Because this is an obvious flagrant 2. As obvious as Bynum on Barea <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6CyMa12JM-c" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
You're right. I took it too far by insinuating that it was the referees' fault for what Haslem did. Take baseball for example. A pitcher hits a star player. Odds are that the opposing pitcher will probably do the same. I doubt Haslem fouls like that if the foul wasn't on Wade or Lebron. He's just sticking up for their star players. Indiana would have done the same if Granger got hacked like Wade did.
Hansborough fell to the ground not sure what else he needed to do to get a flagrant 2. It should have been obvious by the refs
He got smacked in the face with both hands and got right back up. Compare that to Wade who acts like he was shot. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/III7PnoQDm8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I think Hansborough's foul was a flagrant 1. But Haslem's was clearly a flagrant 2.
