I'd rather have Bosh with Dwight than Pau with Dwight. Barring that, if we lost all our PFs in the Dwight trade, I'd take a flyer on ..................... Anthony Randolph alongside Dwight.
Definitely think we can get Gasol for Lowry + Scola... Lakers would love a PG of Lowry's caliber. This is assuming we sign Dragic.
lakers need a PG because sessions stated he is looking elsewhere for a longterm deal and they may want to get rid of pau which makes houston a good canidate for him.
IMO this is much more improbable than either one + Dwight Howard. Both Miami and LA are win-now teams, and would most certainly want Scola+Lowry to cover their PF/PG positions. And neither team will want KMart due to Wade/Kobe. Dwight Howard package, though, would probably feature some combo of DMo/Patterson/Morris/Parsons+lots of 1st round picks. And Orlando actually could use KMart if they want to be mediocre rather than full tank mode.
Agreed. I could envision Morey offering up Scola, Dalembert and Budinger (plus maybe the #16 pick) for Pau, trying to get the current Lakers "management" to rationalize making such a move as follows: --The drop off in production from Gasol to Scola isn't TOO great; --Budinger gives them a (cheap!) young wing shooter/scorer, something they are sorely lacking; --They can either keep Dalembert for (a reasonable) $6.7M or waive him prior to July 8 and only pay him $1.5M; and --If they waive Dalembert, they can save a whopping $14.4M next season alone. Don't discount that last point, as Jim Buss has been slashing payroll since taking over control of the Lakers from his father. He essentially traded Lamar Odom and Derek Fisher for only Jordan Hill in order to save money; and Mitch Kupchak is reportedly miserable working for him. If Morey could pull off a trade like this, he'd still have Lowry, Martin, Patterson, Morris, Parsons and all (or at least most) of his picks/draft rights to use, in any combination, to make a run at Dwight Howard or another star player.
Additionally, Gasol could still be a piece in a Dwight trade - using him as a 1-1 side deal (Gasol for Howard straight up, other pieces for Turk).
Lakers will get way more than what you offer for pau. They aren't into saving money just to save money. They could get randolph for gasol and be better than scola, bud, and the 16th. They probably could get williams and josh smith for gasol which is still a better package. When and if they trade gasol, it will be a lot better than what the rockets can offer unless the rockets decide to throw in more than what u offer. Not to bust the bubble, but its nothing the rockets could offer to get howard.
wouldnt it be all worth it if somehow morey pulls off two in one season...a combo of dwill/Pau/Bosh/Howard any two of those with dragic lee and parsons still on the team makes me feel pretty good.
I'm not enamored with Pau to begin with. I'm not enamored with bringing on a guy who has his desire in the playoffs questioned two years in a row at $19 million/season. I don't think the production matches the contract...and I don't see that improving as he ages. I believe Pau has seen his best years....they were great as a Robin....but we need a Batman. I'm not interested in Pau Gasol wearing Rocket Red at all. If we're acquiring him simply to move him for a better piece, that's fine. But if the plan is to bring in Pau and put a team around him, I'm going to be pissed as a Rockets fan.
You may be right, man. I never said it would be a SUCCESSFUL offer. Just that I could see Morey making that offer. Not sure if the Lakers get all the offers you mention, though, especially under the new CBA landscape. Not too many buyers out there for "non-superstars" making $19M per season. The Rockets may be on a short list of those.
Pretty much. Last yr it was his girlfriend, this yr it was the failed trade attempt. Best case scenerio is gasol for zach randolph. Playing with his brother as a bigger part would be good for him. Randolph is a guy who kobe will trust. He's a guy who can get his 20 without kobe urging. In fact, he wil tell zach to turn it down. Gasol to the rockets shouldn't be an option.
That HAS to be it, right? I can't imagine anyone would actually think Pau freakin' Gasol is the answer to all our problems. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone reading that some of our most respected posters here actually want this to happen. Are we being super-trolled?
