Why can't we have more capacity on our hard drives?!?!? I hate it when we have LESS GigaBytes than other teams.

Oh come on, only a lame dick piece of garbage like Tinman would bring up a championship from 1908.

You're way better than that cracker poseur.

No doubt the Cubs have a bigger fan base. But for franchise comparisons, I think it's pretty lame to use titles from before one of the teams in the comparison was formed - especially when said team has 50 years of its own history. All in all, the Astros and Cubs are fairly comparable franchises (in terms of on-field results) and both are in similar places now. Fairly silly for either to talk too much smack. :)

I think both Epstein and Luhnow have track records that speak well for the future, though if I had to bet, the Cubs could return to contention sooner by virtue of not having to compete with Texas 20+ times per year. Will be same general time frame, I think.

You know what's worse than the Cubs? That disgusting casserole they call pizza in Chicago.

Please regale the rest of the BBS with your memories of the Cubs' 1907 and 1908 WS titles.

WHT? I come back to the thread and I walk into a feud over who is better? Of course it is going to be the Astros. Cubs living in misery for the past 100+ years.

    Astros= #winning

Thanks to those that have made comments. I have never heard of Lucky's but sounds legit.

You realize that the fact the Cubs fans will fill up Wrigley infinitely so they can absorb the tradition (and hey getting bombed at 3 pm and watching a ballgame on a Wednesday is pretty fun even if your team is a perennial cellar-dwellar) is one reason whoever owns the Cubs isn't especially motivated to "build a winner".

I agree Houston's Fanbase could be better for the non-professional football sports but it probably will insulate us from long decades of mediocrity.

    lol What?

People fill up Wrigley because they're die-hard fans. There's none of that tradition crap or to get drunk crap. That's what White Sox fans use to try and insult Cubs fans but we all know it isn't true. The Cubs fan base is one of the most loyal in all of sports, that's why it fills up Wrigley. People come to watch the games, so if that's not a reason for Tom Ricketts to build a winner, I don't know what would be. That's just not a logical way of thinking. Just because your sales are already up, doesn't mean you'll have any less motivation to build a contender than someone who's struggling to bring people to their seats.

Just like Ernie Banks, Mark Prior, Ryne Sandberg, and the 2003 roster...I'm sure the Cubs organization will find a way to eff up Theo Epstein.

You have to be kidding me. I've been to Wrigley. It's absolutely not to go root on the Cubs unless you're drunk and in the outfield. People go because it's fashionable to go. It's a yuppie scene, surrounded by bars. Fun place....but it isn't Fenway with its intensity or die hards.

Then you just haven't been enough. That's pathetic to assume. Just because there are a bunch of bars around there doesn't mean the fans themselves aren't there to watch their team.

Boston, Philly, CHC and NYY all have great, large fan bases. They all have die-hards. Goes hand in hand with all of their other sports, those are the top 4 sports cities in America.

    I've been enough.

The best Cub fans are the ones in the bleachers getting stoned to the bejesus belt off of Old Style. The ones in the other seats are there making an appearance. They golf clap.

There are Cub fans who absolutely are die hard fans...no question. But in no way do they match the intensity of Boston, Philly or Yankee fans. Not even close.

all 4 of those fanbases are on a tier of their own. Regardless though.. Ricketts isn't going to have less motivation to build a winning team just because they sell tickets over someone who owns a team that doesnt sell as many tickets. That's just absurd.
