Just wondering, who do you guys think is the 2nd best player of all time. Obviously, MJ is number one. Lock or merge if already posted. And, why is that player the 2nd best?

Why? You think he is better than Magic, Bird, Russel, Wilt etc?

I am actually very surprised right now? Kobe over Magic, Larry, Bill, Wilt, Kareem, Hakeem?

    Gotta go with Magic.

    5 titles against great competition.
    3 Finals MVPs
    3 MVPs.

All by the age of 31.

If he hadn't had to retire from his HIV infection he may have had a few more. He went to the Finals against the Bulls the summer before he was diagnosed with HIV.

He came back in 96' for half a season and put up 14 points and 7 dimes.

People put way too much emphasis on points. Magic's all around impact on the game is truly amazing. On 50% shooting at that. Truly made everyone around him better. If there is any player in the modern era who has a chance at being declared better than MJ it would be him.

I want to say Dream, but I went with KAJ. Obviously had great teammates for every one of his titles, but I give him the edge because of his longevity as a dominant big man.

The 92 Lakers minus Magic went 43-39 a year after making the Finals.

The 94 Bulls minus MJ went 55-27....

    Im just saying....

I'll accept MJ is number 1 with the hype and the flair to match but it's really closer than people think.

Look at the roster for that 91 Lakers team the Bulls beat. Outside of James Worthy they were quite average and it showed the next year.
