Yeah, I'm sure it will really put a damper on their 5th championship parade in the last 14 years. Meanwhile, we've only won 1 playoff series in that time period, but at least we still have the 22-regular season game winning streak!
Some people here don't care about playoff success. their inferiority complex shows when that happens. We've all seen this coming since the Spurs got Tim Duncan and the Rockets were never consistent in their coaching and front office. Oh and their uniforms didn't change.
The Rockets and Spurs are not in the same class right now, there is no a real comparison for the 22 in streak since Spurs is likely going to win a NBA champ this year.
Agree. Yet another thread from an insecure and jealous Rockets fan whose team, like him, is sitting at home watching the NBA playoffs on TV.
OKC metro 1,280,578 INDY metro 1,756,241 thats why... and just for shiits and giggles.. San Antonios metro 2,194,927
Their streak > Our Streak now.. Not only has it continued through the postseason, but I believe they are 28 of 30 in their last 30 games. 2 of which they sat their starters..
I don't. What's to hate? Their success? Their players that are generally good citizens and not (as far as I know) d-bags? Their fans that are nothing like dallas morons and that have generally loved their team in good and bad? They've had a fantastic season and most everyone knew nothing about it. With that, there was no "HEY! LOOK AT US!" at all from them. They just went out and let the results speak for themselves...with the occasional comedy routine. I'd love to have a rivalry with them on the court but the Rockets are simply no where near that class and there's very little that shows me they'll be there any time soon.
besides hating Ginobili for pretty much ruining Brooks' career (cmon, the man was playing really well. Lowry did too and it all opened up new doors, but man that sucks for him), I think the Spurs are doing something really special this year. I kind've wish them the best, because most of the people in the league have been thinking it would be someone else... namely OKC vs MIA. CHI and ORL bowed out with their lack of starpower, hopefully both LA teams will be out as of tonight. I would LOVE to Indy beat the Heat, lol, but we'll see. If this was Duncan's last title, I wish him the best. Its the best thing to happen in the twilight of your career - and its in an EVEN year for the Spurs, heh. As for the Rockets record... yeh, I doubt Spurs would sweep OKC anyway. I don't think it would count in the same category, but either way its super impressive. I'll always love our 2nd place tho! Thats not being touched in the regular season for a LONG time I bet.
At this point, I just want a good series. I hope the Rockets are watching what the Spurs are doing and take some notes. 1-drafting (parker, ginobli..(i don't count duncan, cause that was an obvious #1) , all the young players 2-good relationship between management and coaching (and players) 3-TEAM first players.. (we've got lot better at this) 4-team chemistry (it takes years to develop this..) also see Clutch City 1. In some ways, the Spurs remind me of the old Clutch City Rockets. they even have Stephen Jackson
Are you saying that it isn't?? The Spurs have swept 2 teams that the Rockets could barely take a game from each this season. Playoff basketball >>> regular season basketball, therefore a playoff winning streak >>> a regular winning streak. While I'll be rooting for OKC in the next round, I can't deny how fantastic the Spurs are playing right now.
Remember the good ol' days when we actually had a rivalry with them? When Hakeem schooled Robinson in his own house the night he won the MVP? When Rocket fans flooded the Alamo Dome and cheered during the national anthem when it got to the part about the rockets red glare? Then gathered behind the Rockets bench and taunted spur fans after the game was decided and they were heading towards the exits? Now, while they're busy winning championships, we're grasping at a regular season winning streak and a fluke game in which our best player (who we all hate now) scored 13 points in 33 seconds to beat them in a meaningless regular season game that they probably don't even remember.
