That was one of the best games I've ever been too. Man that was fun.

    Probably 60/40 Rangers bandwagoners.

Me too. Fun game to watch, The Astros have made MMP alot more enjoyable as well.

Sit right behind a super d******d Rangers fan but I did notice a considerable amount of quiet Astros fans grow increasingly louder and more vocal in their support of the Stros as the game went on.

I think the quiet ones got tired of all the rangers chants and cheering.

It did start to get louder.

On a side note....has anyone noticed we have the best home record of any team in the central? Or 4th best in the NL?

And along with that, dead last on the road in the NL?

Trademark of a young team good at home and suspect on the road.

For all the AL skeptics out there, aren't the 1st 2 games of the Rangers series a pretty good indication that playing 18 versus the Rangers is going to easily surpass your feelings of 18 vs the Cubs and Cardinals? You don't hate Cubs and Cards fans as much as you hate the Metroplex. The Rangers have never had a natural rival either. This is going to be fantastic for MLB and the Astros.

i'm an AL skeptic because I don't like the AL. that comes from being born into an NL team and NL fandom. I don't expect that to change.

but you're right about the rivalry with the Rangers. i already loathe the Rangers, simply because of my obnoxious Dallas friends who barely knew they had an MLB team until the last few years.

I generally agree with you. But it will take a bit of time to forget those old rivalries. St. Louis and Atlanta in particular I will miss for a long time.

The Rangers will instantly take on the notion of rival. But Oakland, Seattle and LAA are virtual unknowns to me, and it might take half a decade for me to build up any sense of rivalry with those clubs.

Same goes double for me! Living up here in the metroplex it sickens me to have to live with people who are bandwagon Rangers and Mavs fans. Unless you lived/suffered through the down times, I don't respect your new-found love of "your" teams.

I hope that DirecTV doesn't stop showing the FS Houston channel up here in Dallas. It would be that much worse if I couldn't follow the 'stros on TV nightly and had to fork over money for MLB Extra Innings.

I've already started preparing my mind for the move to the AL West. I've had a running bet with one of my best friends who happens to be from Washington. We bet 1 pitcher of beer on all Houston vs Seattle end of season records. It's been pretty even throughout the years. It was friendly before. Now it's turning into some s*** talking. I've enjoyed watching Pujols' horrible slump. The A's are like the Pirates...I'll barely remember they're in the division. The rangers, of whom I couldn't have given a crap about before, are already my most hated team. Between the d-bag dallas fans, what Nolan Ryan did to the Express...a stadium 5 minutes from my house that I refuse to go to, and the Astros move, I will admit that the rivalry is starting to mean something.

Don't get me wrong. I'm still very much against the move to the AL. Since there is nothing I can do about it now, I'm getting ready a little early.

After going to last nights game it's hard to disagree. I oppose the move completely but last nights game was the most fun baseball game I can remember going to in a looooooong while bc it meant something. I already hate the rangers and seeing that many rangers "fans" at mmp made for a hell of an atmosphere. Cubs, cards and braves will be a complete afterthought once this rivalry gets going.

It'll be the new Comcast channel next season. I don't know MLB rules about territorial restrictions when 2 teams from the same league are in the same territory. I wonder about that in Austin, too. That's potentially the one thing that will destroy my fandom. It happened for me with the Rockets when I moved out here. Not that I don't love the Rockets, but without being able to watch games nightly (I'm not buying League Pass or Extra Innings), I've lost touch.

I really hope they don't strip the Astros from the people all around Texas that have been able to watch them for 50 years.

of course it's going to be fantastic being in the AL... if you don't care about the astros or you're a nut grabbing band wagoner who likes to wear a NY hat on saturdays and Boston one on sundays.

I like how outsiders/non fans like to think we have no rivals in the NL. Those people, again, are not that familiar with the astros or if they are, they're suffering from short term memory and only remember the 2009-2011. what was boston to new york before 2004? ohhhh but they've been around since the salem witch trials...boo hoo.
The Cubs with any team is a history of failing...but bu but they scored 26 runs in a game once..back in 1922. So lame.

What pisses me off about the move to the NL is that the dbag Selig does whatever he wants to our stros. You want the roof closed, i want it open. Hurricane devastated your city? home games near chicago! just great.

Yes but the Astros rivals have changed 50 times because there was never a natural rival. Astros/Dodgers became Astros/Giants became Astros/Reds became Astros/Braves became Astros/Cubs/Cardinals. Nothing was as heated as Astros/Dodgers when Lasorda was the manager yet Astros/Dodgers games haven't come close to delivering "The Juice" for a decade. Neither the Astros or Rangers have ever had a real rival. This is going to be awesome for both cities and teams.

Yes, this rivalry is on. No, this is not me claiming victory for Bud Selig. F that POS.

I used to not care about the 2nd Texas MLB franchise formerly known as the Washington Senators, now seeing Rangers "fans" all around the city really boils my blood. Where the hell were they before 2010? Pudge, A-Rod, Michael Young, Hank Blalock, Mark Teixeira, Kenny Rogers, and Francisco Cordero were probably the only players that they could name off the top of their heads.

And Houston blogs are letting their feelings known. Not sure if this belongs in the Nolan Ryan thread, but I feel this is an appropriate thread, too.

    Shots Fired!!!

Astros County on the "lifelong Rangers fans"

    Houston Sports Counterplot on Nolan

F**k the Rangers, F**k Bud Selig, and, I still respect him for what he's done wearing an Astros uniform, but F**k Nolan Ryan too. Why doesn't he just come out and admit that he has a vendetta against the Houston Astros organization?
