Forgive me if there is a thread already for this, but are these guys definitely going to be playing Summer League ball for the Rockets this summer? : Sergio Llull Donatas Motiejunas Brad Newley - do we still have his rights? Maarty Leunen - same question as Newley
Llull - Nope. Even if he were to come over next season, he couldn't even sign a (non-minimum) contract until July 11 at the earliest. And that doesn't even account for any contract negotiation period, including the negotiation of any buyout with Real Madrid. Motiejunas - as others have mentioned, he might make the Lithuanian National Team. Also, he cannot be signed until July 1 at the earliest (because of the salary cap rule allowing him to be taken off the Rockets' cap last December), although that shouldn't keep him from playing in the summer league. Newley - I'm starting to think that the Rockets have given up on Newley as even a fringe NBA player. Still, he may still be there in summer league if he thinks he has any shot in hell of ever playing in the NBA. I'm not holding my breath, though. Leunen - I actually think the Rockets and Leunen like each other enough that Leunen will be invited to play in the summer league. I believe they have hopes that he could still be a "fifth big" on an NBA roster, a stretch 4 with range. It's possible, though, that he may be too experienced internationally by now for either party to derive much from him playing summer league ball. Other guys to expect on the summer league roster: Chandler Parsons - even with his successful rookie year, he'll still be expected to show up for summer league as a second year player. Marcus Morris - he needs to be "the man" on that summer league team. Patrick Patterson - maybe, maybe not. Greg Smith Courtney Fortson Diamon Simpson 2012 draft selection(s) Undrafted free agents Other free agent fringe NBA players (Other than the 2012 first rounders and maybe Smith, all of these players will be looked at more as RGV Viper candidates or training camp fodder.)
Parsons said he may not play in summer league but will be in Veaseven if just to root for the guys. I think the rest of the team will like having him there so they can get his leftover groupies. Patterson: Isn't he having another surgery to clean out his ankle?
That's not true. For whatever reason though it seems like there are a bunch of people under that believe. I'm quite sure why. Care to fill me in? As for the topic, maybe Dionte Christmas, maybe Jermaine Taylor.
