That's a hell of a switch! It should be a blast to drive, though, unless you're just looking for straight-line acceleration.
I love Infiniti -- those new sedans are nice and they run forever. I think the coupe would be the way to go with those though and that's not what you are looking for.
Would definitely not get the TL. I got to ride in a brand new one a couple of weeks ago and the interior seems so cheap to me. For a 40k car, I expected a lot more. As much as I dislike Infiniti, I would rather get that or a Lexus than the Acura.
Wow a lot of hate on Audi.... Sad... People up north have different opinions on Audi. They are money in the snow. Living in Massachusetts taught me that.
in 2008 I looked at the 335 and 328, the c350, and the is350, chose the g35. The 335 was probably a bit better, but it was a lot more expensive and the 328 just seemed slow in comparison.. I havent had a bit of trouble with the g35 and the Infiniti dealer has been great. If i ever replace the g35 it will be an m37, but the new Audi a6 is really nice.
I guess I'll be that guy that advocates Audi. Now I understand that reliability is a huge factor, but buying any premium sport sedan will have thee added risk of expensive repair since brand new premium sedans cram so much newer technology into them. Here is what Audi has going for them. They have the best interior out of all the big premium brands(BMW, Lexus, Acura, Infinite). They also pack arguably the best turbo charged engines. BMW can make their case. Their awd system is class leading and gives the driver an added boost of confidence that the other car manufacturers do not have. People here have been suggesting the BMW 335 which is a great machine but look into to the Audi s4 especially the one coming out in 2013. Personally its the most pleasant looking sports sedan out there.
I love Audi's...but the A4 I like is about $40k. $40K for 211 hp??? At least give me 260hp..and I'll be interested.
Have you looked into a 2010 BMW 5 series CPO with extended warranty? Depending on what you get 528 or 535i, you're looking at $35-40k drive out for one with reasonable mileage. Basically, you get 4 more years of FREE maintenance, so you won't have to worry about this costing you money for the near future. Since 2011 was a new model year, 2010s have dropped 35-40% value in just 2 years. If you want the new 2011 model, you can probably get a 2011 CPO for $40k drive out if you do some work and have patience. IMO, if you're going to spend money to buy a luxury car, might as well go for BMW/Mercedes/Lexus...Acuras and Infinities aren't really up there. If you wanted the extra performance, just upgrade an Accord or Maxima.
An a4 is equivalent of a 328 which has similar horsepower. A s4 is the equivalent of a 335 which is 300+ hp and a rs4 is the equivalent of a m3.
You can't upgrade an Accord to SH-AWD and you can't upgrade a Maxima to RWD or AWD. This ain't 10 years ago.
no matter what someone says about how TL is just a better accord..i can't just go get an accord. i have driven accords. i had accords. it's not the same. maybe it's built on the same platform or chasis..but its not the same.
Except Audi s4's are pretty hard to find and are still expensive. Not worth it for a three year old car.
I guess you can't compare an Accord to a TL. Accords compare to the Acura TSX. Actually that's what a TSX is....a more luxurious Accord. If you were dead set on the 3 cars you mentioned, it really depends on your preference. I'm not sure about these newer models, but when I looked at these cars, the G37 had more horsepower than the other two. I've driven a G37 coupe, but it's handling wasn't as good as my beamer, contrary to many reports of "superior handling" (per edmunds). Lexus is also known for being the best in terms of reliability, while Acura is basically the middle ground between Lexus and Infinity, even though Infinity isn't that bad at all. I'd probably pick the G37 just for the extra horsepower.
The TSX is the Japanese/European Accord. The TL is sold only in the U.S. and it's based off of the Accord platform.
Hasn't been mentioned but.... How about the Hyundai Genesis R-Spec? I love my Genesis 3.8 right now and just runs perfect but would love to have a 5.0 liter engine though.
Yep. Just love all the available mods for it too. Love my truck but I think I'm ready for something fun and better fuel mileage.
I wouldn't touch an Audi unless I was rolling in money. I have several friends who work in the car industry and state that those cars are extremely reliable after 5 years, and it's veyr expensive to fix. Sure, you will find some Audis though in the later years of its model that will be extremely reliable with very little problems, but very rare. But their designs are beautiful, and the A5 looks sick. And it depends on how long you want to keep your car. If you are planning on keeping it for 5+ years, I would get a Lexus period. Although it isn't as sporty as the Germans (but the new IS is coming out next year, and new GS has been getting favorable reviews), it defines luxury inside and out. If you plan to have your car for less than 5 years, I get a 3 or 5 series. The new 3 series sedan looks much better than the previous generation (although the design is more evolutionary than revolutionary). You can just get the 328i b/c the 335 isn't getting good reviews from what I'm saying. A modded 2013 3 series looks beastly. My friend just got one and it looks awesome. I would easily buy that if I didn't have to commute so far to work. Infinity is debuting its new G series in 2014. And nothing is spectacular about the current generation so I would wait. Acura is reliable, but its designs are hella weak. Pass. Benz? The new E series is pretty nice, but I think it isn't in the price range you were looking for. So if I were you, it would come down either to the IS or 3 series.
