Call me that guy, but I have always wondered if the rockets would enact a system where those in the top deck could purchase an upgrade at halftime to go to the bottom deck to sit in the seats of those who have not showed up by halftime. Say you charge a small fee like the airlines do when there are tons of seats left in first. That could attract alot more people into the top deck, where there are fewer season ticket holders that don't go to games, and offset the companies who only show up to the big time games.

This will only help the rockets make a little bit more money, as well as making our court appear more full than not, since most of the time the camera only focuses on the first few rows.

I have hated over the past few years how bad our attendance looks/is!

Sorry my girlfriend was going through her period and your whining reminded of that.

No, I suggeted that maybe you should follow bandwagon teams please keep up.

All sports are about winning playoffs and championships without a doubt, but some people enjoy the journey and what not. Some people are loyal through the good times and the bad times, which is why I suggested joining a bandwagon team.

I still disagree we suck. I'd say we've had our disappointments, our bad luck, our failures, and some small accomplishments. But suckage is not something I'd describe the last decade as.

All the above said is easy to do because they shut down David Robinson and drafted Tim Duncan. Your foreign talent that they recognized are at best level 2 stars without Duncan. How exactly is it the front office's fault that Yao Ming broke down? I did not say that the rockets would compete when Duncan retires I said your so called well run spurs would not be so well run. How many number one draft picks did the rockets have? would you have drafted anyone else besides Yao when they did have a number one pick? Its easy to be a well run team when a franchise big man falls into your lap like that. I dont need to know history dude I have been around too. The stats that you pointed out come because they got Tim Duncan not because the spurs are a well run team.

Frist of all, don't ever confuse excuses and explanations. Yes it would have been awesome if we could have acquired both Yao and Morey (or a GM who could draft and makes trades competently) but it simply didn't work out like that. Once we did get Morey, we quickly assembled a quality team that could have done great things but didn't work because of injuries to Yao.

Please, someone point me to a picture or plaque in Toyota Center where it says "our goal is medocrity and to make as many excuses as possible". Otherwise, stop being dense and understand that the Rocket's organization want to be be contenders and winning championship. Just because it hasn't happened in awhile and the Rocket's plan hasn't worked doesn't mean the Rocket's are content with mediocrity.

I just don't understand the rational behind believing the Rocket's are content with mediocrity or they don't know how to build a team.

You do make a good point about excuses and explanations. Obviously, I don't think it's the organization's goal to put a mediocre product out on the court and the Yao and McGrady situation did leave the organization in somewhat of a bind, but I do think Hillboy's frustration is justified to a certain degree. A large part of it can probably be attributed to the fact that the Rockets haven't seen much playoff success in the past decade and a half and the Rockets lack of progress in recent seasons is just the tip of the iceberg. I guess from the fan's perspective, when you are perpetually fed the same information about having/acquiring the assets to obtain superstars year in and year out, you expect to see those plans come to fruition, if not, at the very least, some progress. Obviously, as fans, we judge the team's progress by the Wins and Loss column and in a league where over half the teams get to the "big dance", it's understandable why fans would feel disappointed and frustrated by the Rockets lack of success. For one, the Rockets aren't exactly lighting up the Win column. Second, the Rockets don't exactly have anything to show for with all this "assets" talk (FA or trades) for what's now going on 3 seasons.

Perhaps, the front office needs to re-evaluate their options and consider other possibilities besides waiting for a superstar to simply drop into their laps. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if Morey's hands are tied when it comes to decision-making, but the Rockets as an organization need to be open-minded in their approach and possibly head in a different direction, especially if things aren't working out. When things don't work out as planned, one has to adapt and improvise and to a lot of fans, it doesn't seem as though the Rockets are doing their due diligence. It seems like they are pretty sold on the idea that it's gonna be their current course of action or bust.

While I don't think the Rockets are a pathetically run organization, they may want to consider looking at ALL options when it comes to improving the team. Obviously, if something isn't working, then something needs to be changed. It all starts with acknowledging that things could/should be changed and going from there. Just my two cents.

It's justified, but only because it's a human emotional response. You can't exactly be choosy when it comes to pairing your superstar center. Rocket's made a well intentioned gamble pairing Yao and McGrady. It simply didn't work for many reasons; some organizational and some bad luck.

I would make the bold argument that the Rockets wouldn't have been any better off today if they had cashed in their chips after Yao went down for the last time.

I can dig it. But I think you are being very naive if you don't think the Rocket's are/have looked at all options.

Well, that's the things. I don't think the Rockets have looked at all their options. I know there are a lot of people out there that are against the idea of tanking (including our very own Les), but it should at the very least be considered.

Even though I don't like the Spurs, I will admit that the team has seen far more success and is a better run organization than the Rockets. Their record and their titles speak for themselves. Every single year, analysts pan them for being too old and too slow and yet they outperform expectations year in and year out. Expectations that I might add, that are even greater than ours. Now, San Antonio is considered by most accounts to be a small market team and you can argue that their climb to success is a much harder one then our own. They recognized that they were a small market team and that drawing superstar-caliber players would be tough and as a result they decided to tank. They realized that the only way that they were going to be able to compete with the big boys was to obtain a superstar by all means necessary. As luck would have it, they ended up with Tim Duncan, in which they teamed with their other tank-a-palooza winner, in David Robinson to form the core of their original dynasty. However, following the retirement of David Robinson, the organization made a myriad of smart plays that put the Spurs in contention every single year. They never used Robinson's retirement as an excuse to tank, but they always found a way to get the necessary pieces (whether it be through trades or through the draft) to put the team in a position to compete at the highest level every year, while selling out every game night in and night out. While you might not like Spurs, you have to admire what the organization has been able to accomplish over the years. To be so good, for so long, to say that they aren't a better run organization that the Rockets would be an understatement.

There are a lot of contradictions (literal and logical) in this one poorly-worded rant.

it has nothing to do with finally winning a playoff game or making the playoffs, the jets came off of back to back AFCG and i can tell you that their organization is a mess. the cowboys have 5 superbowls and that organization is a joke now and being ran terribly. bob mcnair isnt going to go and sign every big name free agent that hits the market like the cowboys, eagles, and redskins do. the texans are becoming a team that lets big contracts walk and rebuilds through the draft, thats how teams like the steelers and patriots stay relevant for decades at a time.. this process started in 09 with a quality draft..

the texans organization is solidifying and the rockets have no identity.. so when talking about how franchises are run, 2 championships from 17 years ago dont matter.. who from that regime is still with the organization?

The truth and nothing but the truth! Comparing the Spurs to the Rockets is down right depressing. Since Les bought the Championship teams he did not build, it has largely been a downhill slide. In sharp contrast, the Spurs have built a dynasty and the "old farts" might win it again this year. We know where the Rockets are. All the "Les is a great owner" hoopla is just mind boggling to me.

its not like we have been sucking ass though. Even when we were going nowhere, we still had winning seasons. Even this year, before we choked, we went on a nice run with very exciting basketball. All i'm saying is that it could be much worse. By the way some of the fans talk, it seems the the Rockets are the worst ran organization in the world.

I'm saying the last 15 years sucked. I'm not saying they're the worst run organization in the world.

What I am saying is that if you play in a sport that lets more teams into the playoffs than it excludes, you ought to expect more than one playoff series victory over 15 seasons. And if that's all they have to show for it, yeah, that's disappointing. There are only a handful of franchises in the NBA that have had that same experience over the last 15 years....and they are what you would probably call poorly-run organizations.

The worst part of it for me...is that, IN MY OPINION, I don't see it getting better next year unless there's some monumental change. They max out effort and what you see is what you get...3 years of the exact same results shows that.

It's all disappointing because of the fact this franchise found itself in the Finals 4 times in 16 seasons from 1980-1995. Now we struggle to make the playoffs...and a playoff series victory is celebrated with streamers and confetti. I find it to be disappointing.

It is not the fans that suck right now.

In a league that has more teamst that MAKE the playoffs than don't...what is going on with our beloved Rockets is inexcusable.

The FANS are not the ones sucking right now, that is the organization, and the rot starts at the very top.

Not arguing that...I'm saying that they max out effort and we pray for the 7th or 8th seed. That seems to be the ceiling. The mean seems to be the 9th spot.
