the ONLY way doubling your bet after a loss works is if you have unlimited income and there's no maximum bet.

I think you need to do some reading up on craps. There is no house advantage on the odds bet. Period. You are paid out true odds.

Not confusing at all, I've spent many a night in front of a crap table. :) My point is that making an odds bet (regardless of pay-out) does not increase your chance to win. I typically assume a 7 will be rolled before a 4 is rolled when the point is on 4. Therefore I will not put odds on that bet just so the house can collect it.

The only reason the casino is paying 2 to 1 for the 4 is because the odds of actually rolling a 4 compared to a 7 are very poor.

Me and a freind Years ago used to try progressive betting on the 4 and 10 just because of the large pay-out. I won a lot and lost a lot but never really broke even.

As stated I tend to be conservative at the craps table. I'll play the don't until I figure if the shooter is hot. I always place max odds on 4 and 10 when playing the don't. I've been at craps tables where other gamblers were accusing me of causing the table to be cold for making wrong way bets. All the while I'm winning and they're losing. Superstitious gamblers are a form of entertainment to themselves.

I have no idea if you just play online or at casinos but there is nothing like a good casino. I like Vegas the most because of all the sidewalk casinos as well as all the major casinos. Gambling on line is a good way to learn but doesn't take the place of the real thing.

You are talking pay-out my friend. Regardless of pay-out there are only so many ways to roll a 4 in craps. If your money is on the 4 and the shooter rolls a 7 first you lose, I don't care if you have true odds or not you lose.

There are always 3 ways to roll a 4
There are always 6 ways to roll a 7

BTW, please don't take my post as me trying to say there is a right way or wrong way to bet because I'm not. I just know what has been most successful for me and I've logged a lot of hrs at a craps table.

Thats a fact. I've tried it and had minimal success. Usually end up spending my gambling money a whole lot quicker.

OK, I think I have failed in explaining this. The odds on the Odds bet are exactly fair, with zero house edge. And it doesn't matter what the point is. It can be 4,5,6,8,9,10. Yes, the 4 is hard to hit, but it pays 2/1 which makes it just as fair as when you place an odds bet when the point is 6 which would only pay 6/5. The 6 is easier to hit, but it only pays 6/5, so your rate of return is exactly the same no matter what the point is.

You can bet however you want. I see people do crazy stuff at the tables all the time, that certainly adds to the fun and craziness of being at the casino. I do almost all my gambling in Vegas these days, I go a couple of times a year. I've just about given up going to the regional casinos, and I've never done any actual live gambling online. I just use some of the online simulators for practice. Blackjack is really the game I play the most.

Which is why you are paid 2:1. Can you think of any other bet in the casino that pays out true odds? Yes you are more likely to hit on the 6, but you are still being paid out on the exact odds of hitting that number.

Not only is there no house advantage on the odds bet, you decrease the house advantage on your pass line bet as well.

I'm a casual croupier and my advice? Don't gamble. No one ever, ever, EVER comes out on top. When I see people win, you can bet your bottom dollar you'll see them in the next day and the day after that.

The best games to play are those which the house has no advantage - Texas Holdem. Other than the the best games would be playing the Pass Line in Craps or the Banker on Baccarat.
