Figured Ledet was gone. Appears to be more of a neo-soul type of singer which there are very few big sellers inside that genre.

Jessica Sanchez sang that Mariah Carey song just as good, if not better than Mariah. Not many people on the PLANET who could have done that. And she's only what 16 years old or something. Unreal how talented this girl is.

Anyone could have win it. I was rooting for joshua though, I hope the guy has a big career. I think he can. R&B and Soul music has taken too big of a backseat. Usually nowadays a singer just teams up with a rapper and call it R&B...or a singer raps...or something.

Joshua has that voice to bring it back though, hopefully whoever gets to manage him and write for him will lead him in that soul direction rather than what every other urban artist is doing today.

Better than Mariah? that's a joke. But given the time she was had to practice that song, 1 week, I'm sure that was a great performance. I'm sure Marian spent more than a week to practice before she recorded it.

The girl is talented no doubt.

Eventually all three will go the way of the vast majority of Idol contestants and fade into obscurity. With the exception of Clarkson, Underwood and Daughtry, none have made a significant/relevant impact on the music scene. Jennifer Hudson has had success in Dreamgirls. Katherine McPhee is enjoying success on Smash. The others put out an occasional album or two. We'll see about Scotty McCreary. His first album sold well and he won a couple of best new artist awards.

The girl is one of the best singers, if not the best singer to ever be on American Idol. Does that mean she will be a star? Who knows. Does that mean she will win? Doubtful. Females are the ones who vote on this show and they usually vote for the cute guy. Remember, Adam Lambert got 2nd place pretty much because he was gay and the cute, straight guy won it that year.

Lambert got second because he was a talented performer that particular season.

Much as I am rooting for Jessica, I really just don't see her winning against the hordes of 15 year old girlies voting for Philip.

But I hope that I'm wrong.

Probably the most talented performer ever, and getting 2nd was just as bad as Duaghtery getting 4th....

I agree and I was rooting for him. I still love the look on Daughtry's face when he got kicked.

Jessica will definitely get the asian votes, while Philip gets the white votes. It's up to the black, hispanic, and arab voters to decide the winner. It's just like those political elections.

That's what I'm saying. Lambert was the best singer by far that year and got 2nd instead of first because of the voting demographics. I see the same thing happening this year. Jessica is the best but I doubt she'll win.

Didn't Jordin Sparks won when she was 16.

Your definition of best doesn't coincide with what I think of as an American Idol. She is a very talented singer, but I wouldn't buy any of her recordings because I don't like that style (diva-ish for lack of a better description). The songs she has sung have essentially been mimics of the previous singer. She rarely has done anything unique or different. Again, I am not denigrating her voice - she is vocally gifted.

Being that she is only 16, perhaps she can be 'molded' to become more relevant, but I suspect she (as well as Philip ) will end up being the typical AI finalist.

perfectly said. she sang a bunch of gimmick songs (I will always love you, the jennifer holliday song, etc.). she has a decent voice, with no unique quality to it whatsoever. the people who think she is spectacular only think so because they are lemmings who are persuaded into thinking whatever the judges force them to think.

I'm not talking about an "american idol" nor am I talking about buying her music. I would not. But, she is the best singer - from strictly a singing perspective.

Aren't you just so different and unique...perhaps they just enjoy her singing?
