Do you know the statistical odds of a child abduction? In this case "free range" didn't even apply as the kid was in a shopping cart and was small.

Wow that's crazy, good that she went to the manager and he locked the store down immediately. Can't imagine the pain of your child getting stolen. Hope they find this crazy lady and lock her up for yeaaaaars.

I haven't been to a Costco in years. That's a members only store right? Do they check you IDs at the front, scan them into the system, or is that only at the cash register? Just wondering if they could have narrowed the lady down and gotten information about her to retrieve the boy by using the surveillance tapes and matching her with photos on IDs scanned. I'm sure she would have left the store with the boy and not purchased anything had there not been a lockdown, therefore not putting the ID into the system, unless it's scanned upon arrival at the door.
    Sorry. Really overthinking this.

Glad the boy is OK. Very quick thinking by the mom.

The sad thing is that you know the crazy lady is going to try that again. This isn't going to stop her.

Retailers have cameras all over the place these days. I am sure they have a few in the parking lot. Can they get her license plate number?

I believe you just flash your card at an employee to get in. They barely look at it, much less scan it.

So was it possible that this woman grabbed the wrong cart?

How could she grab the wrong cart and not realize that there is a child seated right in front of her?

Scary **** and my worst nightmare. Glad the kid is OK and back with his mother. I hope she learned her lesson.

What difference does it make? I don't look at the odds when it comes to my kid's safety.

That's pretty shocking somebody would try to do that, especially considering Costco probably has organic 3 year olds for sale in bulk at a really reasonable price.

Tell your friend to get one of these, 100% Abduction free.... People tell you don't leave your keys/phone/wallet/purse unattended in your shopping cart, same rule applies for 3 yr olds...

In this particular case, the odds were 1 in 1.
