Scola and west are a wash.
    Granger is better than parsons
George is worse than a good Kmart but not this years Kmart
    Lowry is better than hill
    Dragon is better than collision
The only advantage pacers have is hibbert and he was 17th pick.

So it gets down to this - and i would be happy if the Rockets were in the same position as the Pacers. They could easily come out of the East.

Of course they will run up against the best basketball team over the last decade. The Spurs. If I could have Rockets emulate any team out there it would be the Spurs. Not Miami, not OKC. THE SPURS.

Drawing conclusions on how to build a championship team based on an injury plagued post season is r****ded. The Heat are without their best big man.

I like the Pacers a lot. They have solid, above average guys at every position and they built through the draft.

Homerism at its finest. We're at home for the third year in a row bro. It is what it is. Indy is better than us.

The Indiana Pacers area good team and they have a nice young core, but to think that they are going to compete for a title because of their overwhelming is an aberration to say the least. The Bulls for one lost their best player (Derrick Rose) and their best big man (Noah) and the Heat lost one the Big Three (Bosh).

I would take a healthy Bulls or Heat team anytime, any day, anywhere before I even consider the Pacers. The Thunder (who are even younger and have more talent) and the Heat (when both teams are at full strength) are the creme de la creme of the NBA. There isn't even an argument that can be made otherwise. If the Pacers get to the Conference Finals (which isn't a guarantee), they will have largely gotten there by luck.

Regardless of whether or not Indy's better than us, being at home earlier than another team is hardly a good method to determine team strength.

Unless you want to tell me that teams like the 99 Knicks or the 02 Nets are the 2nd best teams that year.

Did we somehow forget the team who has played the best for the last 2 months and has won - what 16 straight? So I can make a very persuasive argument that the Spurs are the best team in the NBA this year and over the last decade.

You are probably the only person on this thread who seem to be talking about the Pacers as a "championship team." The thread was started back when the Pacers were down 0-1 to Miami.

For sure. The Spurs are definitely better. People talking about modeling a team after the young up and coming teams in the NBA. I was just using the Thunder and Bulls as an example.

As for the Spurs, I actually just wrote this in another thread like 10 minutes ago:

Even though I don't like the Spurs, I will admit that the team has seen far more success and is a better run organization than the Rockets. Their record and their titles speak for themselves. Every single year, analysts pan them for being too old and too slow and yet they outperform expectations year in and year out. Expectations that I might add, that are even greater than ours. Now, San Antonio is considered by most accounts to be a small market team and you can argue that their climb to success is a much harder one then our own. They recognized that they were a small market team and that drawing superstar-caliber players would be tough and as a result they decided to tank. They realized that the only way that they were going to be able to compete with the big boys was to obtain a superstar by all means necessary. As luck would have it, they ended up with Tim Duncan, in which they teamed with their other tank-a-palooza winner, in David Robinson to form the core of their original dynasty. However, following the retirement of David Robinson, the organization made a myriad of smart plays that put the Spurs in contention every single year. They never used Robinson's retirement as an excuse to tank, but they always found a way to get the necessary pieces (whether it be through trades or through the draft) to put the team in a position to compete at the highest level every year, while selling out every game night in and night out. While you might not like Spurs, you have to admire what the organization has been able to accomplish over the years. To be so good, for so long, to say that they aren't a better run organization that the Rockets would be an understatement.

Oh, I know a meme when I see it. I don't want to hear about the freaking Pacers all Summer long as some sort of BS justification for not tanking.

Not a problem. I posted that the team the Rockets should be modeling themselves after is the Spurs. I am really confident that after TD retires they will just keep rolling along.

So the Rockets are better than the Pacers? Is that what you're implying?

Because history won't remember that way. They're making noise in the playoffs and we're at home for the 3rd year in row. It is what it is. We just have to get better, period. No more "almost had him" phantom trades, moral victories or excuses. Just get better.

Only if my English skills have deteriorated to the point where I no longer understand the qualifier "Regardless of whether or not Indy's better than us..." used in my last post.

The person you quoted above was comparing TALENT, not SUCCESS. Something that you seem to have a hard time understanding. Success never has and never will be the best indicator of talent under the current NBA system.

If you're going to argue that Indy has more talent than Houston, come up with a more logical response.
