This team would have to suffer injuries to many key players for them to not make the play-offs in this division.

If the Texans don't win the AFC south this year then we should all renounce out fanship. I haven't seen a division this weak for one team in 30 years of watching football. The division should be a CAKEWALK.

The NFC Least had some weak seasons...

But it's nice, after all the Manning years.

So Marshall thinks the Texans, a team with a top 5 RB, WR and Defense in one of the weakest divisions in the league, a division with a rebuilding team, a team that can't pass to save their lives, and a mediocre team will not make the playoffs? C'mon man. I'm not even being biased, the Texans imo are the 2nd best team in the AFC, especially with the Ravens losing their best defensive player. A healthy Texans team will win at least 12 games this year.

Although healthy is the key word.

And I might be white.... or not.

But you're right it could happen, if we lose, Schaub, AJ, Foster AND Tate, along with Jon Joe, Cushing, and Barwin on defense to injuries. Hey, it could happen... *shrug*

    Stupid predictions.

    A) Schaub will start easily over anyone they have.

    B) Texans will win this division easily. Running game & defense way too strong.

    Faulk is way wrong. Period.

    I disagree.

I loved Faulk as a player, but I can't stand the smug satisfied look on his face as a comentator.

Injuries don't have to take place for this team to go 8-8. One year of great play and all of a sudden, some of us think it's not possible for us to suck the next year? I don't think we'll miss the playoffs mainly because we're in such a poor division but it's possible this team could have a down year in the regular season.

Yeah, it's possible. But this team showed long stretches of dominance last season. Especially around mid-season. IMO, the regular season will be up and down, with a few injuries here and there. Then they'll hit thier stride right before the playoffs.

I think the Texans are going to fall off a little next year, but the titans, colts, and jags are hot garbage.

Through the first 10 weeks, we most assuredly were. At 7-3, we were the AFC's top seed, our defense was top-ranked, and we had just completed a four-game stretch in which we outscored our opponents 132-42. And that was without Andre Johnson. We followed that with three more wins, two against '11 playoff teams. And that was without Matt Schaub.

Anything can happen year-to-year in the NFL. But any pundit lamenting the loss of Winston or Ryans, and not acknowledging the return of Schaub and Johnson for a full season, should be instantly dismissed. We have a top defense and Arian Foster. Assuming both perform up to expectation, the Texans will win 9+ games and the division. If Schaub and Johnson are healthy, they'll win 11+ and absolutely be world-beaters.

I'm dumbfounded how easily people dismiss the 2011 season. The Texans were freaking dominant for very long stretches, stretches that didn't include Foster, Johnson and/or Schaub.

Healthy, this is the 2nd best team in the AFC, theres just no doubt about it. They have every key position addressed and a top notch specialist in the coaching department on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Matt, Andre, and Arian will carry the offense... Cush, JoJo, and Bulls on Parade will hold down the defense... its the training staff and freak bad luck injuries that need to have their year!

Every year analysts make a "bold" prediction or two because past history shows that there will be a couple of playoff teams that will not make it the next year and a surprise team that does like the Broncos and Bengals last year. I remember 2 years ago Tom Jackson predicted we would go to the Super Bowl........we ended up 6-10.

I'm a Titans fan, but I have to admit it would be shocking for the Texans to not win the division. The Jags and Colts could improve significantly, and they would still suck. I think it would take a miracle for either to contend. The Texans blasted the Titans in their first meeting, and played to a virtual tie using a 3rd string QB that had been recently signed by the team. If the Texans beat the Titans in both meetings, they will win the division, no question.

Who is the best? Pats? Steelers? Ravens?

I think its clear who the best 4 teams are in the AFC, with the Broncos, Jets, Chargers, & Raiders with the potential to be much better than a year ago.

I would say the Pats are still a top dog with a pretty good draft and the young defense that is only getting better, with that said... i would MAYBE say Baltimore is interchangeable, but losing a hall of fame defender might hurt them lol
