The game itself is pretty good. The problem is with the server. It just keeps on crashing. They've been running WoW with millions of subscribers for years so why this is happening is totally beyond me.
Don't have it but anyone who knows what it is like when a new big MMO releases should have seen this happen. They will get it ironed out.
Well, for what it's worth at 6AM, the servers were up and running smoothly this morning. We'll see if that stays this evening when everyone gets home and tries to log back in again.
Got to lvl 11 before the server went down last night. Dual wield barb build but I think I am about to switch to a shield and 1h. Watched the full cutscenes on youtube last night and all the boss battles. OMG... amazing.
Played sparingly when the servers were up yesterday. Enjoying the wizard still. To answer some of the above questions. for Random Games- it is different than D2, you don't start or join a game that has been going from the very beginning unless you set your quest progression to the very beginning. That said you can join random games by hitting the join public game. That will start you with a random group, that is around the same quest you are set on. The game was supposed to match you with similar levels on the same quest, that was not working as intended on Beta (you would get matched with much higher level groups, that may have started on the quest you were on but had progressed through a majority of the content available). While it seems like fun to get grouped with a bunch of guys higher leveled than you, it was actually a pain. The difficulty increases with more people, and if you have a few guys that are 8-9 levels lower than everyone else, the high levels have to play easier content than they should. It was a point of contention in the Beta, because a full party with a couple of level 3's and a couple of level 9's couldn't kill the Skeleton King easily. For Classes- I have played through the beta on all classes. they are all different in their own ways but none of them really felt weak. there were some instances where some seemed better than others, but none of them seemed far superior in every situation. it boils down to finding a class that fits what you like. If you like to run in and crush everything take the Barb, If you like to stand back and shoot, take the DH. Just find what fits your play style and go with it. Personally, I have always been a melee person. I expected to jump in on a Barb and play that. But in the beta I really enjoyed the Wizard and that is what I am starting with.

What abilities do you find yourself using as a Wizard? I've been stacking Intellect like a madman, and at level 22, my Arcane Missile and Arcane Orb spells are wrecking things. Most mobs only take two Missiles or 1 Orb. Maybe because I explore so much and have (I think) pretty good gear, I'm a bit overpowered for where I am. Alternating Frost Nova and Wave of Force keeps pretty much any mobs off me completely. It all just seems really easy, and I have little interest in using the other abilities because these ones are so good. I've played around with them, but that's about it. I feel like I'm missing something.
He does it for the lulz and viewcounts on YouTube. If I'm not mistaken, he's done similar over-the-top rants on WoW and other games.
I am currently using the same as you. I used pretty much that exclusively on the last beta build and had no issues. My problem was in earlier builds they had the Sleet Storm Rune available at like level 8. I just ran into a group of mobs, did a Frost Nova and then Sleet Stormed the frozen pack. Killed everything almost instantly. I will use that once it is available to me. I also used the Wave of Force ability with the Novs ability for a good combo.
I started with using the Nova/Wave combo, but then I realized there really was no reason to combo them. Nova + Orbs, then Wave if they get close to me again seemed to work better and keeps 'em off me longer. Perhaps you're talking about the beta though, when Nova did damage. I never played the beta, but watched videos... but never saw "Sleet Storm," so we'll see if that changes things. I'd like to deal some frost damage since I have an item that increases that by 3%.
Yes I was talking about the beta Nova was actually a damage spell. I don't have it active yet in live.
Got it, installed it, logged on first time, and played for 3 hours with no problems until server reset. Got my barbarian working pretty well, the Stomp/Cleave combo works pretty well.
The BlizzardCS Twitter is actually useful for getting reasons why stuff is not working. In this case: For restarts, they typically have a 15 minute countdown, then a 15 minute downtime if it's just a restart. The tweet was at 8:09pm, so it should be up soon if not already.
