    Yes - and the coaches that have revived those programs (Saban at Alabama, Carroll at USC, Tressel at Ohio State, Meyer at Florida, etc) tend to be great coaches. The fact that those programs go through terrible times without great coaches tells us something.

    Will do if they suck again this year! There were a lot of tickets for games like Iowa State and Rice for $30 or less from the Texas Box Office during the week before the game (face value of $60+). But those same tickets were going for even less on StubHub. :)

    Seriously - if you all want to come up for a game, the crappy games now almost always have tickets for $20-$30 on Stubhub. The better games are more expensive, but for the past two years, they've been face value or less. I know because I try to sell my extra tickets that UT overcharges me for. :mad:

    Again, I am not saying that Brown is a bad coach, I just don't think he deserves #1 coach money and a contract extension after 2 poor years. He is definitely one of the better coaches of this era, but that's not the argument. Coach-wise, I believe that Brown is behind all of those guys you mentioned, Stoops and a couple others.

    That isn't intended as a slight at Brown, but more so as praise to how many great coaches there have been in CFB the last decade or so.

    I need to take him up there to see the campus. He's been to a couple of games (including one time you were gracious enough to pass tickets our way)....but I need to take him up there for a full weekend and introduce him to all that.

    I'm not remotely going to try to sell him on BU because:

    1. it won't matter anyway;

    2. more difficult to get into UT and I think he's up for the challenge; and

    3. UT is cheaper!!!!!!!! :)

    He gets #1 coach money because he pays for himself with all the money UT has earned from him. If that money dries up, he certainly won't continue to get that pay.

    As far as coaching goes, I don't think anyone thinks of him above any of the people I mentioned, and most would probably say he was below them. I don't see who exactly overrates him given that no one has said that he's a better coach than Saban or Meyer or whomever.

    Maybe because I feel that he has recently underperformed at a school with great expectations, yet continues to get rewarded for average performance. I don't feel as strongly as the OP in the "VY is the only reason Brown has a job" camp because that's just not true.

    Sure, bad years happen, but great programs shouldn't have a sudden losing season in the middle of a great coach's stint (especially with the way that Brown recruits). I realize that UT won't be mediocre for very long simply because of talent, but the last 2 years have to be a tremendous disappointment.

    Everyone should ignore SacTown. Obvious troll is obvious.

    Don't think he's ever been to Austin, nor does he know anything about Texas football.

    He certainly turned NC from nothing into something. Is the man the best coach in college ball? No, at least not IMO. But he is as good as a recruiter as there in college ball. Once again, don't just look at what he has done in Austin look at his record before UT as well. The best? No. But overrated? Definitely not.
