Sorry, it's just simple economics 101. Supply and Demand. A company sells a product, here is their price. If you want the product, you pay their price. If the price is too high for you, you do not buy the product.

If you want the product more than once, you now have an increased demand. The supply is constant, so it is a seller's market, meaning, if you want it, you pay for it, if you don't want to pay for it, don't buy it. You are in a position neither to bargain for a lower price nor to demand they give you their product for free.

You cannot have your demand satisfied without paying the seller's price.

Unless you somehow think you are entitled to take possession of the seller's property WITHOUT paying for it - in other words, stealing it.

That's what piracy IS, and that is EXACTLY what you are talking about.

This is not even a hard issue to figure out.

    Think of it like this:

When you go to the movies, and take two nephews with you, do you demand that they be let in free just because you bought your own ticket? When you take them to a restaurant, do you demand that they get free food because you paid for your own meal? When you buy clothes, do you demand free clothes for them because you paid for your own clothes?

Of course not. That would be silly.

And yet that is the same thing you are talking about with software. You have somehow convinced yourself you are entitled to more than you are buying when you buy a software license. It just simply isn't so.

I have no personal beef with you, but you really ought to try to grasp some basic economic realities before you go around calling other people idiots.

Well said. Would rep if I could. Some people only look out for themselves and their wallets. Never see the other side.

No problem. Been down most of the day. they are currently applying a server fix, this is supposed to fix the server issues. Most likely until everyone gets home from work and tries to log in at the same time.

What else would you have expected Blizzard to become after the merge with Activision?

    Reported.
If you don't like it, don't buy it. Simple enough.

A brief account of my experiences so far...

Lot of technical issues, obviously. Took me about an hour and a half after the official launch to actually get in and start playing. I was spamming the login while watching some 24 on Netflix.

Anyway, I finally got in, and played Witch Doctor first. However, I decided to stick to my original plan and try to play all the classes as concurrently as I could stand. So far that's what I've done -- WD is at level 14, near the end of Act I (I think), and all the other four classes are at level 9 at the end of Skeleton King.

On the one hand, that means I haven't seen as much new stuff past the beta content as a lot of people who are only playing a single character. What I have seen I've really liked. And thankfully, the difficulty starts to climb pretty much right after the beta content point, so it's not such a snooze-fest rolling over enemies. I still have yet to die, but it is Act I of Normal after all -- I expect to bite it for the first time in Act II somewhere, we'll see.

The plus side to what I'm doing is the gear sharing and shared gold. I've already got my Blacksmith crafting up to level 17, even though none of my characters are even at 17 yet. I've bought two +2-4 damage rings for every character, so that's giving them all a nice damage boost in the early going. And between rolling the five different characters, I've been able to share lots of good gear amongst them.

I do get annoyed with having to quit my game and enter with another character just to transfer equipment. It would be really cool if they would actually let you transfer items between characters from the character selection screen without going into the game. You'd think it would be possible since they're soon going to have that feature on the website where you can view your characters' current equipment outside the game.

Anyway, as far as specific gameplay things, the only thing I've changed about my WD from the beta is that I've started using Posion Darts instead of Corpse Spiders. I needed a more targeted attack that did quicker damage, Corpse Spiders just weren't cutting it after the Skeleton King, much as I loved them in the beta. My dogs are also dying a lot more quickly than I had hoped. I'm considering dropping them and taking Grasp of the Dead instead.

But Soul Harvest + Firebats is still working like a charm, thanks. That combo makes pretty short work of everything so far. But I am starting to see how Soul Harvest would become less viable at higher difficulties, what with having to get so close to a group of enemies to activate it.

Anyway, I had to jump off 20 mins ago when they started doing yet more server maintenance. I'm willing to forgive them the first couple days, but they'd better get all of this running smoothly soon...

    How is this logical?
You buy one copy of a game that entitles you to play it. Just because you are not selling it doesn't mean you are not pirating. That's $60 per person that could have gone to the developers.
You are reaping Blizzard of potential profits. If you don't want to spend money, then don't.

Its selfish pirating assholes like you that cause these idiotic politicians and game companies to lobby for all this anti-piracy BS legislation.

D3 will be hacked. Eventually even D3 MP will be available to those who want it. Online only will never stop piracy. Nothing will ever stop piracy. Never. All online requirements do is punish loyal law abiding customers.

Is it illegal for you buying a meal just for yourself and sharing it with your kids or someone else at a restaurant? A movie is a different thing. You are paying for the individuals seats and yes movies are charges differently for ages. How does it matter or make any difference if you install 1 copy in the house and anyone can play it or is that also illegal in your mind? Don't talk illegal **** with me and calling people out when I'm pretty sure you're doing it in your own home with many other games and softwares.

It's freaking ridiculous there gaming and movies and entertainment companies are making millions and billion dollars and still crying piracy. You're not punishing the piracy people but the consumers who are buying your products.

Here in the Philippines Starcraft 2 denied piracy to some degree. In a land where internet LAN shops are popular, and piracy is everywhere, surprisingly none of the internet LAN shops supported SC2 because of BattleNet and no one having to find a solution to be able to play that game without having a legit retail game of it. I believe Diablo 3 will be the same way. Blizzard has found a way to stop piracy. (There are pirated copies of SC2 here, but they could only find a way to play the single player + skirmishes with AI, obviously because of this it never became popular)

Oh look it's the over sensitive "idiot" Redred is calling me an "*******"(at least I don't go cry to the Admin) and repeating what I've been trying to say to a certain degree about piracy is causing the consumers to pay the price. And stop with the crying of developers not making money. They are racking in million of dollars for their company and if they complain about not making that money go talk to the company that is paying for your salary.

Stop with this stupid hypocrite about me or others buying one copy and installing on multiple machines so that we don't have to share one computer and they can play on their own. Hey RedRed. Go out and buy an extra games, programs ect. per a machine you hypocrite. What's next? You're not crying for all the illegal p*rn movies that you've downloaded for your pleasure and the performers aren't making any money.
