Yeah, same content as the beta. Although, from what I understand -- and unlike the beta -- any progress you make on the starter version can be carried over to the full game. So it's a good way to test if you're on the fence, even though the content is pretty limited, and the first part of the game is super-easy. EDIT: For clarification purposes, the starter edition is indeed only playable through the Skeleton King, just as in the beta. This is actually the first little bit of Act I, rather than the whole of Act I.
Not sure if this will change in the final version or not, but you didn't have to do this in beta. The games you start are automatically private and you can invite people off your friends list to join you. If you want anyone to be able to join you have to go into the menu and set it to a public game. If you do that random people will join. To join a random game you do that at the character screen after you log in. You can also set the quest that you want to start on. That is a little different than D2. If you want to start right at the part with the Skeleton King, you can set the quest level to that (provided you have gotten that far before). There was in an issue in the beta where a group of level 12's would start from the beginning and get almost to the skeleton king. Then a random level 1 would join even if they had not done anything up to that point. The game just read it as that game started on quest one, instead of keeping up with the progress of the group. So it was throwing people that had chosen to start at quest one into their group even though they were further in. Had it happen to me twice, the first the group were jackasses about it so I gravy trained 5 levels off them doing nothing. The second group was cool about it. I volunteered to leave so they weren't having to pull my load but they let me stay and gain a few levels. This is supposed to be fixed though.
Not sure if this was mentioned before in another post, but get your game downloaded and installed before tomorrow! http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/comments/download-diablo-iii-now Installer was enabled today 10am CST, I just got home and started installing. The Tristram music is epic
I'm sure it is because everyone else is trying to download right now but I've been stuck at 0% for the past 30 minutes.
You can play the game as soon as you get your cd key, instead of waiting for installation/patching. Especially for some ppl that are planning to sleep beforehand to wake up at 2am ready to go I do have a hard copy of CE coming in from Amazon tomorrow, but I want to play it as soon as I get home! Instant gratification.
And if you have finished the download and are to the install portion you need to make sure you allow firewall traffic for the installer. If you don't it will time out.
anyone watching the streams?! AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK, MAJOR SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY http://www.twitch.tv/justw8
pre-ordered; picking it up at midnight along with max payne. I'll play some tomorrow night after work.
I played the crap out of D2, but I have almost zero desire to play D3. In retrospect, it was just a loot-driven timesuck. Barely any strategy involved, and extremely repetitive gameplay. Not exactly eager to get back into something like that.
Yes, I remember the time wasted farming the same boss over and over or running the pits in hell mode over and over waiting for something good to drop. And I remember the time wasted perusing trade threads or trade games usually for naught. But I still can't wait to play it, and anyways it's a long time until Texan open practices.
diablo2 was so watered down level mf pk but it was a damn good game despite such a monotonous playstyle
