There are so many things I'd like to say, but I think for the most part it would be like trying to explain colors to a blind man - even if you can get them to learn general concepts on an intelectual level, they'll never really understand, and trying to force the issue is a waste of time.

At the most remedial level, perhaps we can start by contemplating the advertising slogan, "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas", why it is popular, and what has made that philosophy a good business decision for the city for 60 years.

We can move on to advanced concepts like "basic human decency" and "the personal reward and satisfaction that comes from treating people with respect" later on.
