Not exactly. His shield is an alloy of Wakandan Vibranium and I think some other metal (sometimes referenced as iron, sometimes as adamantium). Wakandan Vibranium absorbs kinetic energy (hence Black Panther's vibranium pjs). Antarctic Vibranium (aka anti-metal) is the metal that liquifies other metals, and has squat to do with Cap's shield.
But he's not on his own in the movie. Hulk + Loki scene = awesome. Hulk + sucker punching other character = unexpected laugh.
He is elite strong for a human, but he is not superhuman strength. He's always been written as being the peak of what a human can achieve without mutation. That's obviously incredibly strong, but he's not a bruiser like Hulk or Thor. He's Batman on steroids minus the detective mind.
Strong? The guy can only lift 800 pounds and his portraying in comics are freaking ridiculous holding his own against guys with over Class 50 ton Range. At least in the movies they try to keep it a bit real with having him with the look "I can't keep up with this ****". What is funny is that why can Tony Stark create some super suite for Capt? At least you see that in Nolan's Batman where he at least have that extra super tech suite to help him.
Adamantium, same stuff that Wolverine's claws are made of. In the movies, it's just vibranium. I think fox got the rights to Adamantium with the xmen movie rights.
I saw the flick Friday night in 3D at the Alamo Drafthouse in Southwest Austin, and loved it. The next time I see it, however, I'll pass on the 3D version. Something about it bugged me. This isn't Avatar quality 3D, folks. Seeing it in 2D would work just fine, in my opinion, and you might miss the eye strain I had most of the next day. But 3D or 2D, go see it!
So did the Hulk watched the Mayweather Vs Ortiz fight recently?? He suckered punch the Hell out of Thor, lol... This movie could have used a little more Thor imo but that fight scene between Thor and Hulk was the best one on one imo... Hulk/Iron Man vs Black Widow/Hawkeye/Captain America vs Thor/Loki, who'd win in a tag team to the death??? My money is on Black Widow/Hawkeye/Captain America!!!!
Around-the-World Roundup: 'Avengers' Reaches $1 Billion Worldwide Based on Sunday estimates, The Avengers has joined the fabled $1 billion worldwide box office club. The movie reached this level on its 19th day in theaters, which ties the record-breaking pace of Avatar and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (though The Avengers was only playing in the U.S. for ten of those days). It currently ranks 11th on the all-time worldwide chart with $1.002 billion, and by the end of next weekend it will move up to fourth place behind Avatar, Titanic and Deathly Hallows Part 2. "We're obviously thrilled with the global success of The Avengers," said Robert Iger, Disney's Chairman and CEO, in a press release. "It's a fantastic movie and an extraordinary franchise that will continue with more great stories and compelling characters for years to come." The Avengers is Disney's fifth billion-dollar movie following Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest ($1.066 billion), Toy Story 3 ($1.063 billion), Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ($1.044 billion) and Alice in Wonderland ($1.024 billion). No other studio has more than two billion-dollar movies. Across its 54 markets, The Avengers added an estimated $95.4 million this weekend to bring its foreign total to $628.9 million. That's the highest overseas gross ever for a comic book adaptation, and it ranks 16th among all titles. The movie's top market so far is the United Kingdom with $65.7 million, and China ($52.3 million), Mexico ($49.6 million), Brazil ($44.6 million) and South Korea ($41.3 million) make up the Top Five. It's only major market remaining is Japan, where it opens in August, and there's a good chance The Avengers ultimately winds up close to $800 million in overseas revenue.
I don't understand why Hulk couldn't control himself earlier in the movie but could control himself (or at least not try to kill his teammates) at the end of the movie.
Spoiler He was under Loki's influence. This is why the staff was glowing during that round table conversation where everyone was arguing, and why he suddenly had the staff but didn't realize it.
Please answer this question: I have not seen Hulk, Captain America..or any of those movies. I really don't know anything about any character. To enhance my experience of watching the Avengers, what movies should I watch before hand? Or atleast what should I know about the characters? Thanks.
If you like comic book movies either one is fine, but if you want a strong grasp on what is going on in Marvel Universe, just do wikipedia, they'll give you a rundown or just go to page 1 on this thread...
Mmm....I mean you can look them up on Marvel's Wiki if you like. You don't have to know anything about the characters to get Avengers; that was the point of the way it was directed. With that said if you don't at least watch a few of the movies you're missing out. I would suggest at the very minimum watching Thor to see where Loki is coming from and the connection he and Thor have. If you have time, I would watch Iron Man 2 / Incredible Hulk / Thor. You can skip Captain America (all you really need to know is...he was America's "secret" weapon during World War 2. He got frozen in ice for about 70 years...and is now awake in present day.).
Same...No one has given me an answer that satisfies. For how much they built it up, they should've taken the time to explain. Literally out of control and could destroy everything if he turns into hulk to the perfect team player.....either a plot whole that they didnt think people would notice or maybe even a cut scene. It was a pretty good movie overall though. Its fun and thats all it needs to be. Its no Dark Knight but i say see it.
Spoiler I get it if that is what it was supposed to be but they did not explain well. Plus he was out of control after that moment and then all of a sudden is the perfect avenger. So with that logic does that mean that prior to this movie Loki controlled him the whole time? It seemed like he just was how they expected him to be when he turned. Lots of people are confused by this. Tons of different theories are online of what happened.
