Not sure if serious. Altuve is second on the team in OBP and SLG and is essentially tied with Lowrie for the team lead in OPS. He's easily the best choice for the #3 hitter right now. Also, I'm not sure why you would expect Biggio to be an improvement over Mills in this area. I think a good comp for him would be Don Mattingly, who never managed anywhere other than one session on the AFL. Mattingly, who at least had experience as a bench coach, has taken a lot of heat for his lineup construction and bullpen use, while being universally praised for his handling of players, especially during a tough time in Dodgerland. I would expect Biggio to bring the same type of qualities, but I wouldn't anticipate him being a spectacular in-game manager, at least initially.
What the Mills? 94 pitches through 8... at least give Wandy the first couple of batters in the 9th. It truly is frustrating when a great outing from your starter goes to waste.
can somebody find our record in extras for like the past 3 seasons? it's probably one of those things where it's nowhere near as bad as i think it is. feels like we win maybe 20% at best though.
0-3 this year, 5-13 last year, 7-6 in 2010, 3-7 in 2009. It ain't been good. (Baseball Reference is so awesome.)
Well, if JD Martinez never gets out of this funk, then that very may well be the case. They have no above average extra base power in this lineup. They do a good job of hitting for average and getting on base... but neither JD or Carlos is mashing the ball right now. Maybe Springer is going to need to be here sooner rather than later... especially if he keeps mashing in California.

I guess everything goes in cycles. Lately, the offense has taken a nose dive. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/tgl.cgi?team=HOU&t=b&year=2012 Our offense stats peaked around May 4th with a team .266/.340/.394 Line. 8 days latter, these numbers are .252/.322/.372
kind of figured that would happened when he made the pitching change for the the other rodriguez. Mills loves outsmarting himself. Leave wright for that batter but no... i guess moving to the AL will put some kind of strain on mills. Brah is out of control sometimes. sigh growing pains.
Yes it is. Very frustrating. In my view, the offense lost this one, as has been the case a lot recently. That 7th inning where with 1 run already in, the bases loaded, and 1 out. We should have gotten more out of that. Myer, had he had more than a 1 run lead would have preserved the win instead of sending it to x-tra innings. In truth, we are no better, perhaps worse, than Pittsburgh at this point. Both our record and this series confirm that. I am not surprised at the downturn. It had to be expected. What has yet to be seen is whether this offensive drought persists or is temporary. I go the feeling that the guys were playing loose and just having fun a bit earlier in the season. After the 5W streak, expectations started to build, and we started to push and force things at the plate a bit. The plate discipline has faltered some, and guys are hacking more than they were. Hopefully, this can be corrected before we find ourselves basement dwelling.
Our bullpen ERA is very good, but I would have left Wandy in. With that said, you do not expect your closer to give up the lead so it's not totally unwarranted move.
Tough luck. Should have won the series but Myers finally blew a save. I thought we had it for sure in the top of the ninth with Myers closing it out. In summary, hurry up and trade Myers before he starts blowing saves left and right...and he loses all his value. Still a pretty good string of saves he had there. F-ing Pirates didn't deserve to win that series imo.
I guess I understand the move to go to the pen when you have that confidence in your closer. Myers has been near perfect. I can't entirely blame Mills for that move. However, what's the harm in actually letting your SP finish a game? Wandy was dominating and still had plenty left. Have Myers at the ready in case Wandy walks someone, but let the man finish the game (and my fantasy team could have used the extra points!).
