Well, college is out of the question and if you have graduated the loitering charge will nullify the degree.
I misread the title. Thought it was littering. You'd be fined $50 and have to pick up the garbage. And you wouldn't be able to join the army until you rehabilitated yourself.
Seriously man!!! In some of the other countries where apparently do not have out "freedoms", people stay out, walk around the streets and parks till dawn.
I'm in England and I can go to any public place whenever I want..... Granted i'll probably be watched on CCTV, but I can still walk freely. I do understand that sometimes people need to be moved on from an area if there is a suspicion of wrongdoing, but a charge of loitering just sounds funny to me.
YOUR LIFE IS OVER... if you're in school and they find out, they'll kick you out.. if you have a girl and she finds out, she'll leave you.. if your parents find out, they'll disown you.. if you have a job and they find out, they'll fire you... Bottom line... you're done son...
You sure this wasn't an "Indecent Exposure" offense? California Penal Code 314 PC prohibits "indecent exposure". And while violating California's "indecent exposure" law may not seem like a very serious offense, its repercussions can be devastating. In addition to fines and incarceration, a Penal Code 314 PC conviction subjects you to a lifetime duty to register as a California sex offender. Your life is ruined.
I have an update: I received a mail from the Office of the City Prosecuter telling me that I "have been given the opportunity to aviod criminal prosecution by performing comnunity service work in the city." I have to pay a $100 participation fee and then will be given a community service assignment. I am not 100% sure what this means, since I'm not familiar with legal terms and lingo. Does this mean that if I do this community service work, the "offense" will be wiped clean off of my records?
I know there are some lawyers on the board. That said, you really, really need to speak to your own lawyer. The opinions of a bunch of basketball fans < some solid legal advice, when your actual criminal record/future is on the line.
Just ignore it. They will come back with a better offer. Negotiation 101- they are desperate, you got the upper hand
Just a form of economic stimulus. Pay your $100 bucks to the court and go work for the city at a dog shelter or something for 10 hours (where they'd normally pay an employee like $18 an hour). Boom, city comes out ahead like 1500 bucks when its all over with bc you were gettin your swag on with the lady friend in a public place. Justice is served.
I don't have my own lawyer. And I don't want to hire one for such a petty crime. What? California has a state tax and it's pretty hefty.
