What about legolas from LOTR? Pretty sure his form is off too The only thing you need to see Spoiler ALERT Spoiler Spoiler
On Hawkeye: I don't think they captured his personality well in the film, which is why he's popular in the comics. He's a great counter to Steve Roger's Happy Days schtick. But Joss utilized Stark for that in the film, so I guess that became redundant. Without that going on, he felt pretty ho hum to me. I thought he made more sense fighting the aliens than Cap or Widow on street level. The "grenade arrows" alone gave him the edge. Especially since any SWAT team armed with machine guns would have been more useful than Widow's handguns or Cap hitting them with a shield. But yeah, it would have worked better if he was tucked away more as a sniper, like he did on the helicarrier. And yes, ultimately, it's silly to have him saving the world as an archer. (1) What point is there in a black ops agent/assassin that exclusively uses custom arrows? Any job he does, he lives a "Hawkeye was here" trail in his wake - not very black ops like. (2) Anything he does could be done more effectively by a rifle marksman. -->But this feeds back to an early thought I had: it would be a bad idea to have them fight a more powerful foe in the sequel. If we all have to suspend belief that Cap-Widow-Hawk were carrying their weight against the alien army, how ridiculous is it going to be watch them throw a shield, sling arrows, and use a piston against a guy like Thanos... wielding the Infinity Gauntlet? Plus, toss in Ant Man and/or Panther (itsy bitsy kitten claws) If you do it, those guys need to be relegated to a side mission and leave the heavy hitting to Thor-Hulk-Iron Man
I think this suit makes him a badass. Hopefully they utilize it on the next film Also was this hawkeye here taking aim at thor in the thor movie?
Even without IG Thanos would wipe the deck with those guys. You need some of marvel's heavy hitters to take on Thanos. Even with suspension of disbelief it is hard to believe a 110 pound girl could take on hawkeye who probably has 100 pounds on here. Also how is a guy who shoots arrows going to go up against aliens with guns.
Its based on a COMIC BOOK. In the Ultimates vol 2, Hawkeye takes out a room full of soldiers by tearing off his own fingernails and flinging them. If you are looking for realism, you are watching the wrong movie.
Agreed - why I'd rather see Thanos face Adam Warlock and the Guardians of the Galaxy if they're going to do that film in 2014. I've got plenty of weight on Gina Carano, but I'd bet she'd knock me out in short order. Hawkeye can fight, but Widow's deadly one-on-one. I don't have a tough time buying that she'd handle Hawkeye in close quarters.
The avengers super nintendo game was my favorite game when I was 10 years old or so. Hawkeye must wear a purple suit with pointy ears.
Imax 3D in First Colony is the fake one right??? I don't understand why we don't have more than 1 authentic IMax Theater considering Houston is the 4th Largest City In America???
I really don't get this crap about how Cap wouldn't be useful vs aliens. This guy has one-shotted Hulk before, and his shield is virtually indestructible. That wouldn't hurt to be hit with? There's plenty of real life history depicting shields used as offensive weapons (See: Spartans at the Battle of Thermopylae). In fact the only thing I believe that they got wrong in the movie, is he likely would have had a gun in his main hand during the final battle.
saw it yesterday and loved it. i don't get why everyone is humping the Hulk tho. Sure he had his moments. i think he stands out because he was able to play off the other avengers. hulk on his own is a bore.
Whedon writes Wolverine the same way. As a role player, not the main hero... the way Wolverine is supposed to be written.
I'm sorry, but I can't take that seriously at all. Whoever got that into print is ridiculous. Captain America cold clocking Hulk is absurd. I'm great with the idea of Cap taking out several aliens on foot, but surrounded by an entire army of them? Pushing it. One shot from behind and he's dead. Same with Widow, same with Hawkeye. You can get away with it in this movie, but if you try and have these guys go toe to toe with Thanos in the second....you'd better seriously downgrade Thanos from the comics.
I agree with you that Captain America is not on Hulk's level in terms of strength, but he's also not Widow like you are making him seem. The movies seem to do a poor job portraying him as they really hide the fact that he is supposed to be an elite fighter with strength and reflexes that are the pinnacle of human capability. The shield is made of vibranium, an indestructible metal that can also liquify other metals. He is an elite fighter. He's basically Batman on steroids with an unbreakable, powerful weapon. (as a fighter, not detective)
I'm not trying to imply that cap can hang with hulk on a consistent basis...just saying he's a lot stronger than the credit you're giving.
