I don't know much about Hawkeye so I don't have the same affinity for him that some of you apparently do. But it's a little unrealistic for him to be standing on the roof with a bunch of aliens whizzing by, shooting lasers and he's just totally ignoring them... shooting off arrows. Let's say he's got some badass, high tech Avengers arrows. So that means he's got good offense. But he's just a human. So he's got little to no defense against those aliens. Wouldn't it make more sense for him to hide and snipe?
Haha. My point is any fantasy/superhero type of movie you have to suspend disbelief but the movie has to work within the rules of that universe. In the Marvel universe there happens to be gods, demigods, aliens, and humans. He happens to be human. He's not even superhuman like Captain America, who you can easily buy beating the crap out of those aliens. But what is Hawkeye other than a human soldier with a penchant for using a bow instead of a gun? Obviously fantastic movie still. My post was only in response to the people calling for more Hawkeye airtime. I didn't want to see more of it because it broke my suspension of disbelief.
+1. He wasn't charismatic, and his powers are shooting a bow real good and banging Black Widow. I don't get the Hawkeye love either.
Maybe the Aliens were just too stupid to realize they were getting picked off and that he could have easily been killed?
He just looked like a badass shooting arrows without looking and jumping off buildings. Plain and simple.
Wouldn't the Phase II weapons come in handy against Thanos? I'm sure Cap and the SHIELD agents would be using them.
So we're just going to put in any random people we want and call it the Avengers huh? That's whatsup?
Depends. I mean, Cap did plow through a whole army that was using those same weapons in Captain America.
Hawkeye is a badass character, at least in the movies. He and Black Widow probably shouldn't get their own movie, but Hawkeye deserves some of that airtime that Nick Fury got. Out of the superheroes, I think Capt was by far the most ordinary and boring. Hawkeye and Widow will probably be add-ins in the next Capt movie. So it's even numbers then? 4th time should be good.
I didn't like the Capt movie much. It was OK, just because I'm a sucker for superheroes. But didn't really blow me out of my seat or anything. Honestly, I liked it because I'm a fan of Chris Evans.
Archery snobs: Hawkeye's archery sucks ass http://www.wired.com/geekdad/2012/03/avengers-hawkeye-archery/
I guessed there would be some uproar from the archery community when the movie comes out, but really, I don't think anyone cares  It's similar to movies where people play the violin or cello. In the beginning, those bad forms really bothered me. But later I didn't really care much for it. I guess it must have sucked for archers watching those medieval English and Japanese movies where their soldiers and samurais use bows and arrows.
