The Clippers actually matchup a lot better but neither matches up good enough (esp. with their new acquisitions). The Spurs can throw wave after wave of shooters and it's just wearing teams out, and both the Clippers and Grizzlies are exhausted. I'm not sure if you've watched the Spurs recently but they are killing teams without even trying .. and good teams, like games in Utah, LAL, and so forth. Also, there's the little thing about them being 4-0 vs. the Grizz this year, and half those games were before they unloaded that pansy Jefferson for a real player.
I see the Griz beating the Spurs if the Griz does indeed win game 7 (and I'm picking them to do so). Zbo is picking up his game at the right time, and Marc/Zbo combo will outplay the Spurs' bigs. Put TA on TP and cut the head of the snake. Grizz shouldn't have needed 7 games to beat the Clips. CP3 was just that good.
..... You guys are all about how this looks on paper. You think they have 20 Turnovers and still matching up well the Spurs? They should be worried because they did not play well in this series. Plus no HC advantage.
What What's with Grizzlies and their turnovers, I am still baffled at the some the most idiotic passes the whole teams tend to make, especially those forced laser passes into the paint that gets stolen 90% of the time.
If the Clippers win game 7, I'll be ecstatic but honestly, it's not going to happen. If our guys were fully healthy, they might have a chance (like 30%), but as it is now, if they can't even win a game on their home court to close out, no way in hell. I'm just being realistic, as I have all series long. Heck, my prediction was a 7 game series for whoever had HCA, and that's what's going to happen. I was happy when the Clippers stole 1 and figured they could win in 6, but the injuries proved too much (and also the Grizzlies played well, don't mean to discount). It's ok .. it's been a good series and hopefully 7 will be a good one, but I really doubt it.
The hero of the game was the clock. The game ended. It was entertaining, but it was train wreck entertaining. Sloppy passes from the Grizz, unforced errors from the Clipps. It was bad everywhere.
as shown, both teams have a heavy advantage when they are playing at home. I think the discrepancy between Home W's and Away W's was huge for both teams during the regular season. The Grizz should take this one out comfortably in Game 7. The Clips never had a chance, really. The only way the Clippers could ever win a playoff series was if they played a aging veteran team who couldn't keep up with their athleticism and up-tempo play. The Caron Butler signing was horrible from day 1. Grizz just too good for them down low and apart from CP3 the Clippers don't have a single wing player who can create and make plays.
Grizz haven't even won yet. You have to play the games. Can you HONESTLY tell me that you predicted the grizz to beat the spurs last year?
You have some good takes but on this you are just flat out wrong. It's not that the Grizzlies aren't good, but the Spurs are elite right now. It's like picking the Lakers over OKC .. not gonna happen. People need to stop living in the past; the Grizzlies and Spurs were far different teams last year and the Grizzlies actually tanked just to play the Spurs. This year, no one wants to play the Spurs.
I predicted the Grizz in 7 when this thread was first created, but honestly the Clippers are lucky that they weren't swept in this series. It's not even funny how much of a better basketball team Memphis is than LA. One team flops all over the place and the other stands their ground as they batter and bruise and wear the opposition down. If the Clips somehow win Game 7 it would be shame, because they would be lucky to win one game against the Spurs. While Memphis, on the other hand, would actually give San Antonio a decent challenge in a rematch from last year's playoffs. Props to Z-Bo for his play on the court tonight and off the court for calling out the Clips on all their flopping. Even though he's not 100%, dude is still a beast.
The problem is Chris Paul, plain and simple. Secondly, the grizzlies have no ballhandlers behind conley, and the clippers can get into them defensively. Most teams the grizzlies play don't have the personnel that the clippers have so that's why it might seem we are better at protecting the ball.
The only reason they weren't swept is it took 4 games for the Griz to finally figure out to get the ball out of Paul's hands. That combined with shedding light on the whole flopping issue kinda doomed the Clippers. Memphis should've won this in 5.
Outside of joepatmc, who picks Lakers over OKC? Nobody. Secondly, it's all about matchups my friend in the playoffs. Zbo is starting to play well right now, with 2 straight Z-bo-like games v. a pretty damn good frontline in the Clips. Marc Gasol is picking it up. If their 2 bigs play like this, they can beat the Spurs. Timmy D and his frontline can't hang with this Grizz' frontline if Marc/Zbo play like this. As a result, they can win the rebounding battle, and usually if u do that, u have a chance to win games. I still dont' believe in the Spurs. We'll see in the 2nd round.
yeah both team's starters are still pretty much the same and both are better than last years' version who were the two grizz players who created matchup problems and killed the spurs last year? are they better this year or worse?
I'll say what I said before. The grizzlies were down 8 and won. Yes we missed a few fts at the end, but we played nearly flawless basketball from about the 5:00 minute mark.
