Nick Wright to replace Vandermeer at 610

This new guy sounds perfectly douchy enough for 610, "Hey guys, I'm controversial! You're gonna love me, or you're gonna hate me!"

 

Is he from Louisianan too or Dallas?

 

I've never listened to Nick Wright, but I do know that he was a pretty big player in the sports radio scene in KC. His afternoon show on, fittingly, 610 AM in KC, went head-to-head with a show hosted by a guy named Kevin Kietzman that has dominate the ratings for a long time.

Just by reading about him and reading quotes from him, I'm afraid I'm not going to be a fan. He seems to relish being a polarizing figure,which is exactly what I dislike about guys like Ennis and Gwinn.

Oddly, he's yet another host in Houston with ties to New York. Lord, Davies and Palillo are all from New York and Wright graduated from Syracuse.

 

This move also shows why Josh Anus will be around for a long time.....

 

Does anyone else hate hearing highlights and then Vandermeer comes in with his "signature" "Rock and Roll!!" I cringe every time i hear it.

 

Naw, I like it. It's a signature Texans thing.

 

Yeah, corny. Just like the "Football time in Houston" song.

 

The guy sounds like Innes 2.0 to me.

Here is an article about him leaving from KC Confidential. Just reading some of the comments, and how they are hating BIG time on Houston makes me dislike KC even more.

 

610 is doing everything they can to cut into their market lead. I really don't understand how they pull the numbers they do.

610 doesn't care what people think of Innes because of the ratings the 'controversial' character draws. This makes it sound like they think it's what they need in the morning too.

 

At least 610 has something tolerable in the 11:00 block when Gwin comes on.
