That Memphis team was never going to get anywhere. They were an overachieving regular season team, running with a 9+ man rotation to hide the fact that they were garbage in the halfcourt. Pau Gasol is/was no more a franchise player than Chris Bosh.

Kobe missed one solitary postseason as the Lakers (and Kobe) transitioned from the Shaq/triangle team to Team Kobe. It happens. Wade ended up on a couple bad Heat teams for similar reasons. Kobe had Caron Butler, Odom, and a roster of rejects, and he had to get over himself as well. It wasn't until after his 27-shots a night season that Kobe finally settled down and focused on winning - and that's when he finally moved from Super Sidekick status to Bonafide Super Star.

But even before Gasol showed up, Kobe got the Lakers a few playoff wins. He wasn't swept out of the first round.

Gasol all too often wilts when the postseason gets going.

Highly unlikely, because Jim Buss loves Bynum, but what if the Lakers only get offered a pile of crap for Gasol?

Would they sell high on Bynum instead? (Probably not)

I know Maury would be interested, though. :)

I agree with this, in the sense that all Gasol move would do right now is handicap the team in the future. He's passing his prime as we speak, while receiving nearly $20 million for the next two years.

If you cannot win or is declining with Kobe and Bynum, then how is going to elevate his game with lesser players and possibly become a #1 option, once again.

Every deal for Dwight Howard right now is pure fantasy and near absurd speculation. The Magic would be settling for some inferior pieces with Houston as trading partner.

Your idea sounds the most plausible, simply by generating draft picks.

Gasol quit on the lakers, he is weak mentally. You don't go for 3 points in 29 mins if you are an all star. He flat out gave up on the team.

LA fans want him shipped out, they hate him. Why would rockets want him?

Plenty of guys have quit on one team and be very good for their next team. If you are going to acquire a star level player by trade-- be it TMac in Orlando, Baron Davis (in New Orleans), Chris Bosh (in Toronto), Chris Paul (in New Orleans) or Dwight Howard right now, you pretty much only have a chance when the star player has quit on his team to one degree or another.

He can help us tank real well next season

Bet you anything he will sulk even more if he gets traded and won't give even a bit of effort to help us win.

True but only the blind would think that he is a "superstar" that could change us from being mediocre.

Now that Bynum has proven to be a fool and Howard has had injuries, I'd say the only trades for a big we should go for should be Josh Smith, maybe Hibbert and if we are really desperate, go Brook Lopez.

I would go with Hibbert, everybody else mentioned here isn't gonna do s*it for our team.. Josh Smith "paired" with another superstar sure, but that is about it .. Hibbert would fit nicely with the talent we have now, that would be exciting, or even J McGhee ..

    Pau ---- NO!!!!

lol exactly the point. He cost us money, cost fans heartache and was a complete disappointment. Sure he had some great years here when he got here but if you look at it from an "overall" perspective; it was nothing but a tease and a waste of money and time.

Lol.... Mac came to us when he was 25.... Gasol would have come to us close to 32. Now tell me the difference. Who gave us prime years?

I don't know why anyone would want Gasol on the Rockets. He is good, better than anyone we have, but we don't become condenders by adding him, and he is too old to build around.
