Asik will not make close to the max, by rule the Rockets can't offer him any more than $9.74 mil/year. I think he's worth that amount, or at least close to it.

The guy is an elite level defender. Almost like a 7'' Chuck Hayes. Not only does he do 7-footer stuff like rebounding, defending the post-ups and contesting around the basket, he is also extremely mobile, plays the pick and roll perfectly, often chases shooters out to the 3 point line and gets a hand in their faces. Just a physically and mentally gifted layer.

For that kind of player, I think 4 years, $39 million easy is a good deal.

I think your right, but still.... 4yr 39Mil could really hurt down the road. Id be stoked if they got him, but I just think that your not going to see him on the floor enough down the stretch of games to really make him a cornerstone type of player moving fwd.

He's averaging, what, 25min per game this season or something around there? Can he have that sort of energy big type of mentality for 35Min a game and not be an offensive liability late in games? I just have a hard team seeing it, but I love Asik and would be silly happy if they snagged him in the summer.

I agree with you, but i actually think Asik is a better defender than Gortat.

Agreed. Gortat has a more refined offensive game. Asik is a little better on D.

Gortat is like a 7/10 player. Asik is a 6/10 IMO.

    Hibbert, but not for max.

    Gordon is too injury prone.
McGee needs a good coach to develop and, frankly, McHale won't be able to do that. George Carl is coaching the mess out of him right now.

He is also coached by Tom Thibodeau. I think that's make a difference.
    Tom Thibodeau >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Kevin McHale.

Id go for Gordon I know hes injury prone but he's young and a extremely talented two way player. For those saying harden is way better haven't seen gordon enough. There both the same size Gordon has better build and def plays better defense. Both can create offense for themselves and others. I just have more faith in Gordon he has a bigger sample size of being the main guy and he reminds me of dwade a lot. Im a fan of both and wouldn't be mad if the rockets got either I just think Gordon is a better bet at a Max deal assuming he doesn't sit on the bench half the time.

Roy Hibbert. It's not even close. All star that fills our biggest need.

How do you figure? He loses the player or two that makes the Bulls do good and all of a sudden they go down to the Sixers.

As with all coaches, Thibs is a product of the player more than the other way around.

I've seen nothing to indicate he'd be a better big man coach or coach overall than McHale... Or vice versa

Gordon is too injury prone. McGee is too Unpredictable. Hibbert look solid. He will be in his prime to earn his max deal.

Rose was out/hurt for most of the season and they were still able to get the #1 overall seed.

I would NOT throw the max at any of those players, they arent max players and we shouldn't over react.

    I tend to agree.

Our offense has been excellent the last three years and defense has not. Adding a young defensive ace would be huge, although there are some slight hesitations to Asik's game. However, this situation reminds me alot of Hayes who was also a defensive ace in the Thibs/JVG system, but was actually able to develop ways to contribute offensively in a different system.

I like the idea of a back loaded contract to Asik that is basically a big fat "**** you" to the Bulls.

I feel like in this era of NBA dom cap space is just worthless. Players are going to find a way to be where they want to be.

The tricky part I believe is that Dalembert's salary is needed in a Dwight Howard trade, but he would also be needed to be waived if we are to pursue Asik. Unless we can swing a deal before free agency, going the Asik route hinders us in our Howard chase.
