McGee is a perfect example of how you waste cap space. He is playing hard for the money. The Wizards got word of this and thought wow this knucklehead plays when he wants too except when it's about money. We can do better than him and they thought Nene and his ugly contract was a better deal. IMO he is a dumb guy who has a lot of athleticism and looks good on film but doesn't consistently contribute to winning.
im a strong supporter of signing mcgee to a big contract... we need help and hes the youngest center with extreme upside still...10/11/12/13 is alot of money and a big decision to make... but if we could get him for 10mill id be ecstatic.. for 13mill id be happy...
Javale McGee would be a great sign for the rockets if we can keep Dragic and draft well this year. Young and a nice blocker. Would thrive in an environment like htown.
I want the management to put together something exciting to watch next season. Not something to be laugh at. In javale Mcgee, i do not trust.
if mcgee is on the roster, it would definately be something excititng to watch... in the same breath tho it could also be something to laugh at at times...
haha got to admit he is on the dumber side. Still think he would be a nice addition depending on the contract.
There is no other center like him in the league in terms of his length and athleticism. He's shown he can a complete game changer like in the playoffs. He's not playing stupid like he did with the Wizards because he has a good team and coach now. If we can't get Superman, McGee would be worth going after.
this... hes playing on a team with solid veterans and a hall of fame coach... i understnd being on an absolutely horrible, super young team with an inadacquate coach... he was a knucklehead then, now not so much...
If LeBron, Wade & Bosh were in Washington, even they would stink it up. Washington is the New LA Clippers (pre Griffen & Paul)
I see McGee as a young Camby, which IMO makes Camby a great tutor for him. Coupled with McHale as coach, I think the guy may improve more on the Rockets than many other teams. He's got a lot of maturing to do, on and off the court, so we are somewhat lucky to have a good environment for that to happen. Despite that, I wouldn't like us offering him more than an average of 10m/yr.
How are you certain that this won't simply change with experience? Centers are slow to learn. Even Kelvin Cato ended up having a couple of good seasons.
I'd take him for the right price, but as one guy posted another team will over pay him. He'd be perfect to work with mchale. One plus is that it seems hims mama has a big influence on him and she's stated that he needs to go somewhere that has a big man to teach him.
wait, when did nba basketball turn into the national mensa club? who cares if hes dumb. latrell sprewell didn't go to harvard, and most of you mcgee-doubters would love to have sprewell on your team. otherwise if you want 3 or 4 year smart high-iq guys with degrees to their resumes playing for you, don't complain when shane battier or patrick patterson cant do anything but run their PR machines.
sure why not sign him up and his wack job mother, we need a drop in BB IQ anyhoo, how bout we double down and add Andrew Balche aswell and we can almost reach franchise levels
Wow you guys are cheap, you know you gota overpay C's.. In Houston, you gota overpay for a role player
