what's the opposite of a splash? Whirlpool? Case should have the 3rd spot locked up by the end of August.
They'll battle for QB2 I'm sure with it being Yates job to lose. I'm not sure anyone thinks Yates is better after the playoff loss. INB4 this thread blows up into a Keenum love-fest.
GK: (on at which positions he would like to sign additional veterans before training camp) “Well, (general manager) Rick (Smith) and I were talking this morning a little bit and I think quarterback still concerns me. I think I’d like to sign a fourth guy. With (QB) Matt (Schaub) being out, with the 90-player roster, I think there’s room for that guy. Even though training camps are pretty much one a day now, but I think we’ve got room for a guy to get some reps, so we’re working on that. Other than that, maybe continue to look at the receiver standpoint. If you look at our receiving group going into camp, we feel good about it, but there’s not a lot of experience in the group.”
I think he's just coming in to be a training camp body. The Texans talked about this after the draft, that with Schaub's injury they might want to bring in another veteran to take some snaps. He's competing with Keenum for a roster spot.
Keenum's not likely to make the roster this year, but stay on the PS for development. Beck's not much, but he qualifies as a "system guy" so he lets Kubiak hedge his bets on Schaub's health and Yates' development Obviously, we don't want him seeing any game time. QB3.
You mean the loss against one of the best defenses in the NFL, by a rookie QB who was getting 3rd team reps for 2/3 of the year. T.J. Yates clinched the playoff berth and won a playoff game as a rookie, he's proven to me he's a more than capable backup. As for him being the QB of the future I'm gonna hold off on that until a see a lot more. Beck will be battling Case for the 3rd string job.
You mean the win against by far the worst team in the playoffs, at home, against another rookie qb? See how that game works? Fun, ain't it?
He's a veteran who has some familiarity with the system. His ceiling is extremely low (almost concave), but it's a nice pickup considering the situation we might find ourselves in.
I said it in the Keenum thread...the Texans were, no doubt, going to bring in a veteran. This was a good move by the Texans.
Kubiak has long said they planned on bringing another arm for training camp with the expanded rosters. This isn't really a depth chart changer
He won't make the roster over Keenum. This guy has no upside as a #3 quarterback. I think they would rather have a young guy with slightly less talent that has more upside.
