'In a rare and candid interview, the former top pick in the NBA draft discusses his injury-plagued career' .....
Something tells me this doesn't work the other way around. "Come on, Kate, I've sent you 100s of pictures of me, send me back a picture of your boobs every now and then...don't be an *******."
Very sad story. A lot of 'what ifs', especially once you hear that he may have tried to come back too early all these times.
Great read, and a very sad story. It's hard not to root for Oden. His sportscenter "chameleon" commercial cracked me up. Hopefully he can make a comeback, even in a limited role.
Lots of new information and it probably would have never came out, if the writer wasn't Oden's good friend. I wonder what the sports psych could have told Portland...
I've always thought he was great when he was on the court. I watched a lot of his games because my college roommate was a big portland fan and I always thought the refs treated him unfairly because of his "rookie" status.. I feel for him.
I'm frankly not impressed with the article, and think that it shows that the idea of Oden becoming some superstar if he just had remained healthy is a joke. Clearly has severe self-esteem and mental issues, and also shows that he wasn't mentally ready for the NBA. I'll also admit that I'm suspicious about the idea of the Blazers completely neglecting him - they needed a healthy and good Oden if they wanted to win a ring. Did his life suck? Sure. So did plenty of NBA stars. What I'm saying is that I never thought Oden would be a superstar after Yao pwned him in 2009, and this article definitely makes me more certain he would never be in Durant's league even if he had remained healthy.
He should sign with the suns. Morey should sign this guy let him rehab all of next year and if we get lucky we get a steal.
Lol. Thabeet/Flynn had never been so healthy in their life as last season. Hope this guy gets well. He's not a bad dude. Just seems the expectation of him as a No.1 Overall and being injury prone hurt his thinking, bad.
{what, liberal hippy granola town isnt relatable? ) Thats part what happens when you value privacy and isolate yourself. People actually will respect your ground and leave you to yourself. Though the article did its intended purpose, to show off some of Oden's human side. Still a young 20-something year old growing into a person.
Wouldn't mind the Rockets signing him to the vet minimum in a year. Low risk high reward type of signing.
This, I bet Morey is going to be all over Oden when he gets back after next season. That's assuming however if Morey is still here.
