eh have you reads all the books? (including dance with dragons?).

I agree with The Real Shady, those story lines do pick up and become very interesting.

I think he is talking about later in the story:
"Five hundred of your Stormcrows against ten thousand of my Unsullied," said Dany. "I am only a young girl and do not understand the ways of war, but these odds seem poor to me." She repeats variations of this several times in her negotiations, but they are all from Storm of Swords and beyond.

As for Dany on the show, her story barely resembles the books at this point and the writing for her has been really bad in several of the episodes, playing out almost like a parody. Having her say stupid things like we are going to starve if you don't let us in, and THEN threatening to come back when her dragons are grown and burn the city down when she is refused entry...

Well, part of the problem is that most of her story in Book 2 is pretty boring (with the exception of the House of the Undying, which we'll be seeing in the next episode or two). It'll get better next season (... then potentially really boring again).

Oh, and I don't know if this has been posted upthread anywhere, but it looks like casting's started for Season 3. If rumors are to be believed, it turns out Shireen hasn't been cut and they've auditioned a bunch of 11-year-old girls so far.

Stannis' daughter. I imagine we're going to get the Edric Storm storyline and some of Stannis' backstory. They need to do something with him, he probably won't show up at the Wall until the very end of Season 3 at the earliest (even that would probably be a stretch), and he doesn't do a whole until then.

It's been confirmed by George, he's writing Episode 7. Season 3 is supposed to halfway through Storm, or roughly thereabouts. There's a pretty significant event that takes place slightly past the halfway point in the book that would make a lot of sense (to me) to end the season on.

I'm near the end of Storm of Swords, on a Daenerys chapter in fact. I like how much her situation has changed from where she currently is on the show.

    I get you. But that . . .
she's using her age and gender to her advantage at that point, lowering the expectations of her opponents. And as far as I know, she only uses that tactic in that one chapter. I don't know, I'm currently part way through the chapter where she reaches Meereen so maybe she uses it more after that.

But at least I kind of like Jon Snow's character. He's pretty cliche (honourable outcast) but I can't help but root for the underdog. And secondly, his storyline seems to be gearing up towards an inevitable reveal of the white walkers which in my opinion makes it infinitely more interesting than Dany's story so far.

I haven't read the books, so I could be way off about the white walkers appearing soon.

I stumbled upon the name of that episode the other day. It's going to be called . . .
    Autumn Storms
Can't think of what that'd refer to though at the moment.

As I understand it, a lot of stuff that happens towards the end of SoS overlaps with FFC and DWD with a lot even happening concurrently. When they reach that point, they might (and probably will) deviate from the chronology of the books and start bringing elements from multiple books at the same time.

At that point, my wife will threaten to quit watching.

Given who wins out at the end of [ithis[/i] season, that'd be 3 "sad" season-enders in a row.

    All I know is...

This thread has become more spoiler and books than talk about the episodes of season two.
For those that aren't reading the books, it makes the thread much less interesting, if not irritating.

this is exactly how it went last season
i think someone made a thread for spoiler free discussion, last year i had not read the books at all and i really was planning to but someone gifted them to me, believe me i know how hard it is to not click on spoilers, but analytically the events are so interrelated that discussion of a certain name appearing in season 3 is completely relevant to season 2 discussion

I have read the books and I find this thread unappealing as well for the same reasons.

i have only watched bits and pieces of the early shows of true blood, but the texture of it was very home movie-ish and i never watched again, i dont understand how this show ever became good
