Nah. Not even in baseball. Hamilton's great, but he's had one healthy season in Texas. 2009 was basically a lost season, 2010 he was phenomenal but missed 30 games, last year he was good but missed 40. He certainly seems on the way to another great year, but there have been much worse trades. Bagwell, for example. Babe Ruth for cash. Nolan Ryan for Jim Fregosi. Volquez at least had a great year in '08 and he's off to a good start. Pitchers get hurt, unfortunately.
Just looked at Hamilton's stats for the season thus far and they are crazy good. I hope he keeps it up.

ESPN now reporting that Josh Hamilton couldn't reach an agreement with the Rangers and will become a free agent after the season ends. I'd prefer he not be in the AL West next season. EDIT: Saw it on SportsCenter...not seeing it elsewhere yet...wondering if I misunderstood the report, as I came in late to it.
Same here. I've already started to get my self mentally ready for 2012. Actively rooting against the Rangers, A's, Angels, and Mariners. I don't have any hatred built up against them, yet, but that will likely come with time.
It'd instantly be a top 5 Astros move for me if they signed Hamilton going into next season as a big eff you to the Rangers. You wanted us in the AL so bad, enjoy Hamilton's bat on a division rival until he retires.
think it would be all over the internet if true. espn main page or baseball page doesnt have anything on it
you're right...i came in late to the report. the box at the lower part of the screen said something about him becoming a free agent after the season ends...which isn't exactly breaking news. That box was there while they were interviewing him. I took it to mean that he had called off negotiations for the season (like Albert did last season)...but clearly I got it wrong.
MLB is learning from the stunning success that is the Longhorn Network and is moving some of their playoff games to a network that millions of people won't get: http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/7...ard-winners-hosting-games-1-2-division-series Baseball also announced its new one-game wild-card playoffs will be televised Oct. 5 by TBS and that two division series games will shift from TBS to the MLB Network under a deal running through 2013. TBS Sports president David Levy said a rights fee was involved. The two division series games will be available in more than 30 million fewer homes on MLB Network than on TBS -- that includes some hometown fans of the teams playing.
I'm ASSUMING this means they're going to take it off the premium tier. Right now on Uverse, you have to subscribe to a movie channel in order to get it. I'm guessing that will change. We'll see.
Not that it really matters, but history will be made tonight: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Jays demote Adam Lind to triple-A Las Vegas, promote Yan Gomes</p>— Shi Davidi (@ShiDavidi) <a href="https://twitter.com/ShiDavidi/status/203172353994272768" data-datetime="2012-05-17T17:17:18+00:00">May 17, 2012</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>To all asking, Yan Gomes is primarily a catcher but also plays 1B, 3B.
