[Cool Story Bro] Shandon Anderson Made My Lunch Today

    I've been in NYC for the past week, so I asked one of my friends if there are any good vegan places in Manhattan (I really enjoy vegan food). She HIGHLY recommended Candle 79 on the Upper East Side (http://www.candle79.com/). The restaurant is organic, so it's on the expensive side, but I wanted to give it a shot.

    While waiting for my food, I peeked into the kitchen and saw a really tall African American male running around, doing many different things like baking pastries, making entrees, etc. His job looked demanding, yet he did everything so smoothly and with a smile. I couldn't quite see his face, but I thought to myself, he has to be an athlete.

    Then I asked the bartender, “Who’s the tall guy working the kitchen?”

    “That’s Shandon, our new chef-in-training.”

    I immediately knew it could be one person.

    At one point during my meal, Shandon came out to get some cutlery. It was definitely him. He was decked out in the full chef outfit.

    Thinking of Clutchfans, I asked a server if Shandon could come back out and take a picture with me. She asked the lead chef, who vehemently denied my request, saying he couldn't afford to have Shandon take time off from his duties. Bummer

    I talked to the bartender some more, and he said Shandon is vegan and he is starting a vegan restaurant in Atlanta after his chef training ends.

    If anyone's in the NYC area, check out the restaurant and see Shandon for yourself!
