I would also say that Gogi is a more marketable player as well. His uptempo style of play and lack of assault charges boosts his value as a franchise player.
This video is a costly signal that the Rockets are using to show their commitment to him. Hyping him up raises the costs of keeping him, but also tells him that he's in the long-term plans of the franchise and that Morey will put his money where his mouth is. It also signals to other potential suitors that we will not be outbid, which will hopefully deter some of them from getting too set on bringing him in. Of course, ultimately it'll be about putting up the money. Hopefully we still get him for value and then we can get an impact player back for Lowry.
The only thing that bothers me is how much attention Dragic is getting over here in Dallas. If Morey doesn't pay enough to stay here and he becomes a mav there will be no end to my rage. I hate the mavs so much it hurts. After being embarrassed in the playoffs Cuban feels extra pressure to make something happen and Deron Williams seems less and less likely to sign there.
You make a very good point about the Rocket's upping the value of Dragic to the point that they will be bidding against themselves in the end. For the money that Lowry makes, he is very well worth how much we pay him. However, this promotion of Dragic could very well elevate his status to a point where, the Rockets will be in the same situation they were in when they were forced to choose between keeping Scola or Brooks. In the end we let Brooks go because we couldn't justify paying so much to Brooks when we had already handed out a hefty sum just to retain our backup PG at the time (Lowry) and Scola.
He's saying(I think) trade for Howard and then sign Deron as a FA. Sounds like a good idea but I don't know if we have the cap for that.
Dragić will be interviewed today on local Slovenian TV. Actually the interview already happened and they released some tidbits today. Interview will be aired on 7:50pm local time (1:50pm in New York). The most important tidbit from interview is: "I don't know where I'm playing next season, but I hope we (Houston) can make a deal". So as I understand, Goran wants to play for Houston under certain circumstances, the most important being 1st play. It's Houston's decision now if they want to get rid of Lowry and give a solid contract to Gogi. I know I didn't tell you anything new, but it's nice to get a confirmation of what is going in Gogi's head. I hope he stays in Houston as he built a nice chemistry with some players, namely Parsons, Scola and Lee.
It is going to be hard no matter what because free agency follows after the draft. During the draft a lot of ball clubs are hanging on to their picks so a trade for picks is going to be tough. IMO Gogi has to decide first if an offer is on the table whether Lowry is still here or not.
Dragić: I don't care about city and weather, I only care about minutes and being starting point guard.
Today in 1h 40min commences a internet chat with Goran Dragic through our local TV internet portal (http://www.rtvslo.si/sport/kosarka/goran-dragic-ob-17-uri-v-mmc-jevi-klepetalnici/282633). If any of you has any relevant question to ask, I can translate and post the question there and hope the administrator lets the question through.
