Spoiler I took Dr. Selvig getting his persona back was from getting knocked out by the blast also as from what I remember they show him getting knocked out. Anyway just a convenient plot point. As for the ship falling it is falling much more slower than the container that Thor was in. My guess is that the Heli-Carrier is built with redundancy like commercial airliners. They can fly for awhile with just one engine and as we saw with the Miracle on the Hudson still glide for quite awhile with no engines. From what I remember also it was the rotors that were down but the jet engines were still going and as long as they can keep the ship going forward at a high rate of speed there is still some lift.
Spoiler Right I wasn't so much talking about the speed it was falling at, just the fact that people weren't flying about the compartments. You could clearly see jets and what not sliding around on the flight deck. You also saw people start flying around when the engines initially died...then after that they're all okay, even during freefall. Plus...since you bring that up; I believe the ship was still falling when Loki released the tank that had Thor in it. If that were the case...they wouldn't have fallen at different speeds lol. Anywho, like I said...it's a movie / science fiction / comics and all that -- so I don't particularly care. Just pointed some stuff out since we were on the subject. Spoiler They needed the iridium (I believe it was Iridium) to stabilize the wormhole basically.
Spoiler The HeliCarrier had four large rotors. Hawkeye's explosion knocked out one of the three. They made it clear that as long as they had three going, they would remain aloft. Stark and Cap began to immediately work to repair the downed rotor. While they were repairing it, the assault team was working its way to the bridge. At roughly the same time that Hawkeye sent the arrow into the computer console which knocked out ANOTHER rotor, Stark and Cap were getting the first downed rotor working again, which meant that the carrier still had three working rotors, and this meant that, while it was lurching around a bit when the second rotor went down, it was only for a few seconds before Stark's repaired rotor was back online. The carrier was never falling out of the sky, it was never plummeting to earth, and by the time Loki was being let out of his cell, the carrier had already been stabilized again.
Spoiler Nope...when Hawkeye knocked out the computer it took down all of the remaining rotors. Watch the movie again.
Spoiler The chamber Thor was in still would fall just like a bomb dropped out of an airplane falls, although probably not straight down a long shaft, since the heli-carrier still had some lift while other than inertia the tank has none. I agree though the ship seems awfully stable during the whole Loki, Thor, Colson scene while outside things were flying all over the place.
Spoiler No, it didn't. They yelled out 'We just lost Engine Number (?) - I don't remember which one, but it only knocked out one, not all the remaining rotors. Trust me
Spoiler Let's just pretend for a moment you're correct and I'm not: what would be the point of having 1 engine damaged, and a singular other engine not functioning...but the ship not being in free fall? The point of the engines being down and 1 being spun back up by Iron Man / Cap is to show they saved the day. If the ship wasn't in free fall there was no danger there of anyone being hurt. Anyway, I'm done discussing it.
LOL. I'm with Nero on this one but I'm not 100% sure. All I know is if you're worried about stuff like that you probably didn't enjoy reading comics.
You didn't read any of the posts for the past couple pages, and you're taking things out of context. We were talking about random things that didn't make sense. 3 posts up I said this: "Yeah, like I said -- it doesn't matter, but since we were on the subject and all."
Spoiler Not sure what the question is regarding the cube - I took his staff to be a "mini-cube" - they initially used it to activate the portal from the other side. I'm not sure why proximity matters, anyway. I'd just file it under mystical scifi comic book object that defies all physics. I thought there were only 2/4 engines out. After the initial explosion, Smulders quipped that the loss of a second would send them down. Hawkeye EMP's the computer to take down a second engine, and Iron Man kick starts the damaged turbine to get them back to 3 going. The real question is why Hawkeye didn't just blow up two engines from the outside, or disable the remaining 3 when he EMP-arrowed the bridge. The answer, as always, is that the writers needed to massage things for the sake of the story. Spoiler It would stabilize the portal. The first version of the device, which brought Loki over, went critical and the portal basically became an underground nuke. The iridium would keep that from happening again, keeping the portal open for the invasion.
Lol what is it with people on the internet now saying "made you cry" or "you mad" and all of that. If you really think you affected my mood in any way, I'm more sorry for you. Once people get behind a computer they say the dumbest ****, "bro"...
You and Nero might be right about the engines. I swear I saw all of them down though, it would explain why the ship was just a bit lopsided. So if I was mistaken my apologies there.
Spoiler It was only "Engine 3" that got knocked off-line by the EMP-arrow. I remember that clear as day, because it was Hollywood-dumb that Hawkeye would (a) want and (B) be able to knock out one specific engine in that manner. At BEST, you could think that he wanted it to be a controlled fall so they had a reasonable chance to get Loki and leave - harder to do if in a complete nosedive
Just glad you're sorry for me engine boy. And engine boy I've missed you... Spinning round my head... And any way you choose me...
Aaaanyway..... The longer I think about it, the more I think Hawkeye is the baddest character after Ironman. He has no real power, except deadly precision and badassery. What's the summarized story behind him? I don't feel like reading a long essay on him on wiki. He's just someone picked and trained by Nicky Fury at an early age? And I thought he was supposed to be Capt's side kick. I remember playing a Capt. nintendo game as a child and the "player 2" was a guy with an arrow. Was it Hawkeye?
Traditional story: Orphan that became a criminal, was a villain for a while, then reformed and joined the Avengers. Maintained a temper and edge, that usually led to friction with guys like Cap. The movies follow the Marvel Ultimates Universe a little more than the traditional, and in them, Fury is the guy that recruits/reforms him to be a black ops type for Shield, like Widow.
Spoiler I think you were required to suspend belief at the moment you saw an aircraft carrier flying off the surface of the ocean.
