Yes but then this widespread of STDs will create a super disease that will wipe out the human race, except for those who are genetically superior!

[rquoter]One downside -- depending on how you feel about shots -- is that it requires the man receive an injection into the vas deferens with a polymer gel called Vasalgel, after a local anesthetic has been given.[/rquoter]Come now. I know medical costs are skyrocketing, but let's not scrimp on anesthesia when you're injecting a futuristic-sounding polymer into my penis. Let's go ahead and splurge on the General Anesthetic -- I could use the rest.

(Actually, this doesn't sound like a bad idea. Better than going under the knife.)

They've been saying male birth control "just around the corner" for over 30 years now. Will believe it when I see it.

    Link within that article
Looks like it can be affordable, less pricey than female prodecures over time. It'll probably be cost of the prodecure and liability that adds it up.

I've had to take shot injections in MY EYE to remedy a condition. Only cuz I HAD to. I wouldnt want to electively take a shot to the "junk". But thats WAAY better than a KNIFE.

If its purely a birth rates issue, then its the low income that NEEDS it.

Smoke a ton of ganj. Lower your sperm count into negative numbers.

    Problem solved. No needles necessary.

A couple of things...got REALLY light headed reading the details of how the procedure happens. Don't ever talk about cutting a hole in my scrotum and pulling things out. EVER.

Secondly, that second quoted article indicates it could destroy HIV...how would that work? The HIV can only be transfer from the sperm and it is destroyed when the sperm are broken up by this jelly stuff?

There's several methods out there being worked on for it, not the only game in town. But maybe the most non-hormonal, minimally invasive method.

    http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NCMBFZR
    http://www.newmalecontraception.org/index.htm

Its just not as easy trapping in daily production of 100s of MILLIONS of scrotal swimmers, than it is to keep one monthly female egg subdued.

The key figure is the stated 100% effectiveness . Thats quite a claim. It does bring some suspicision why there's not much research outside of India. Maybe it is "Big Pharma" turning a blind eye. (Though what kinda of money are clinics currently getting out of just vasectomies? There can be 15 Vasalgel guys to each vasectomy. )

I'm also not as confident it'll bring the 2nd sexual revolution as INTENDED. But men need the option to take control of their sexual destiny the same as women.

I'd do it. I'm not ready for kids until I reach my mid 30s. A surprise is a welcome surprise I guess with the right woman but if I could plan when I'm having a kid it won't be until much later.
