Landscapes change in 6 years, come on...he was being a good business owner, and the city had to pay TRIPLE to get a new team.

It looks like it will work out now, but I blame Bob Lanier more than Bud....

Bud was just unpopular, but he was the guy who brought football to Houston, he was the guy that set up the AFL, he spent $$$ on players, was he perfect? No, but he was more of a Houstonian than Le$ Alexander ever was or will be.

And that's how much he had worn out his welcome here... that's how much the city was willing to pay to "get rid" of him.

If what he did throughout the years was described as being a "good business owner", and all other Houston owners acted in the same unprofessional fashion, this city would likely have zero professional teams now.

Bud constnatly whined, cried, schemed, and ultimately moved his team away from a football hotbed to an unproven market... all for $$$.

Houston could have built new stadiums for anybody (as they have now done)... they just didn't want to do it for Bud anymore.

Bud was/is unpopular because he is a very selfish/self-consumed demanding jerk butt. He made the deal in Tennessee happen and forced the city of Houston to let him out of his lease early because he simply didn't care anything at all about the fan base in Houston. They didn't even have the stadium over there finished for the team to play in.

So, Bud left Houston and spent TWO SEASONS playing at some rinky dink stadium in Memphis and a college stadium, Vanderbilt. That's TWO SEASONS, plenty of time to allow things to develop in Houston and turn into something better than his stupid dome stadium idea.

Bud took his cues from Al Davis. Just demanding, forcing, and acting like a football w**** up for sale to the highest bidder with no regard for the people that actual pay all the bills for all this crap...the fans. Flipping the fans off was just the final nail in his legacy coffin for me. Some guys never change.

And today he is tooting around in Houston. Hey, if we ain't good enough for his football team, then he should move over to Nashville and enjoy all the fine shopping they got over there.

    Get him out of here.

30+ years ago, British Caledonian became the first airline to fly direct from Houston to London. My mom was one of the original B-Cal staff out at IAH. Anyway, she's told me many stories about how the super-proper Brits were alarmed at all these Texas 'good-ol-boys' flying First Class in boots and jeans. The Brits didn't know how to respond to that, or their blue-collar mentality. There was a push to require all of these men to wear suits in order to fly, per the First Class dress code at the time, but the Houston-based B-Cal staff, my mother included, went to bat for these Texans saying, in part, "You don't get it: any one of these men could simply write a check and buy your airline out from under you." The Texans in question were all oil men.

Most of the oil men in Adams' time were all self-made men, and as much as I loathe coming to his defense in any way, shape, or form, there was certainly a different state of mind and a different way of life amongst him and his peers, so it doesn't surprise me that he shops at Costco and tries to get the best deal possible on something like a pick-up truck despite his vast wealth.

    Anyway. My two cents.

No love lost for Bud... Sure, he was playing the Al Davis (then new) Nfl model of holding a city at ransom that has since become common - but for him to putt around in a Houston Costco in a glorified golf cart is way too much to bare (bear/ i never know). Dude could at least stay on the low down around the people he F*****

Anyone read Dan Pastorini's "Taking Flak?"

    http://taking-flak.com/

Some pretty harsh Budisms in there.

But Pastorini may even have been more harsh on Al Davis than he was on Bud and he was only a Raider for one year-- the year they won the Super Bowl with Plunkett at QB.

Yeah....in fact he keeps his private jet at Sugar Land Airport. I was filming Presdient George Bush when he visited Sugar Land back a few years ago and the rally was in the same hanger that Bud keeps his plane....they had to move it...has a Titans logo on it and all....I wanted to spit on it.......

I am not arguing what the better deal would be. Football stadiums are terrible investments for a city because they are used so infrequently even with things like the rodeo. There was discussion about defaulting on some of debt last year, but I guess they must have got through it. I know the reason for that is because the economic downturn, but Bob doesn't have to worry about. He will just let the city pick up the bill. What risk is there in owning a sports team. Frank McCourt ran a franchise to the ground made it bankrupt and got a 500% return. Bob McNair is the perfect republican. The public pays the private profits.Really he is no different than bud Adams.

    But-But-But.....

Billionaire BoBBy brought football back to Houston out of the goodness of his heart.

Check out how BoBBy became uber wealthy. He sold his Enron stock just before it went broke. Just like Lay and the rest of those crooks. He just got away with it.

Why people look at BoBBy as some sort of geat humanitarian without checking into his past and how he got his $$$$ is beyond me. BoBBy makes his $$$$ off the pain and misery he helps cause in this community. The fact that he gets away with this and is considered a community leader is beyond me. Judge Hofheinz was a true community leader. BoBBy= Community leader= LOL. BoBBy=Profiteer= Spot On.

easy there. This is very un houston and blasphemy to dare say anything negative about mcnair or lanier.

If houston were north korea we would be forced to have a picture of lanier and mcnair in every household. Some of you are so willing I wonder how stupid you are.

The mcnair dick sucking around here is pretty funny/sad to watch. People try to spin it but in the end mcnair and lanier got the same stadium adams wanted. nothing shady about that folks.

Hey!! look over there you distracted fools!!
