thought it was really corny.. well i guess that's what makes money these days. the acura NSX was nice
Been cruising the commercials for Avengers all day, I don't watch ANY preview for any movie I want to see and today reinforced that. The previews gives away so damn much, so many good scenes and quotes would have been ruined if I had seen the commercials.
Awesome movie! Found myself with a stupid grin on my face several times, through the comedy and the incredible action. Thoroughly entertaining! Spoiler I came
One thing I really like about this movie demolishing the box office? Joss Whedon will be ROLLING in hollywood political capital in its wake. Should help his cause getting a green light for projects like Ripper....and maybe a revisit to Serenity/Firefly. Minus the show-stealing Hulk moments, I have to agree with this. They did give away a bit too much of the movie this past spring. I look forward to seeing it with my wife, who will know nothing going into it - I think Thor is the only film she's seen.
In the Dumb, Dumb-dumb-dumb category: http://blog.chron.com/celebritybuzz...engers-depiction-of-india-show-in-new-mexico/ Dear nitwits: you kinda sorta missed the entire point, which happens to the completely self absorbed -Banner wanted to be far away from cities -Banner wanted to help the medically-underserved, which would mean the poor and those removed from medical centers In conclusion, get over yourself. No one thinks less of India because of Avengers.
I caught The Incredible Hulk yesterday and Banner seems to have an affinity for crowded slums since he was hiding in a Brazilian Favela. On the subject of The Incredible Hulk I thought it was way better than the Eric Bana / Ang Lee Hulk but have a few questions for the comic experts out there. Spoiler I recall that Abomination is a character in the comic books but don't get too much why he became Abomination. In the movie after the first treatment he gets to Captain America or even Wolverine level of physical ability and healing but seems to become obsessed with becoming the Hulk. Do they explain this as a desire to get revenge on the Hulk or just for the power that Hulk has? In the movie they show Tim Blake Nelson's character's head growing after he gets head butted by Abomination. Did he get infected by Abomination's blood and is also mutating and if so was that meant to be a set up for another Hulk villian? Also when Ed Norton / Bruce Banner is about to get jiggy with Liv Tyler he explains that he has to stop because he can't get excited that way. Does that mean that becoming the Hulk is a matter of excitement of any kind and getting his heart rate up high enough and not anger? I am wondering if the fear that Black Widow shows towards the Hulk in The Avengers might have meant to hint that she was afraid Hulk might try to rape her.

Spoiler Tim Blake Nelson's character is supposed to become a major villain (and Hulk archnemesis) -- The Leader (basically he's superduper intelligent) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leader_(comics) Abomination: As for the comic; the truth is they just wanted a character bigger and stronger than the Hulk (for him to fight). In regards to the movie, I would say he just wanted that kind of power. Revenge was something he wanted as well, but he just wanted to be as strong as the Hulk. As for Black Widow...no that wasn't fear of rape. It was fear of being crushed into paste by something hopelessly stronger than her. Anger is the big trigger for the Hulk, but the truth is there's quite a few things. I've seen him turn into the Hulk just by being dropped out of a plane (not because he was angry, but because it seems his body's natural defense is turning into the Hulk.) so yeah, the idea is if he gets excited enough...boom...Hulk -- which is of course why they didn't go further.
Spoiler The revelation that his put a bullet in his mouth and the hulk came out and spit it out supports that theory [would have been kewl to see The one thing that bothered me about the fight with the Abomination was When you fighting guys who can break metal like toiler paper How do you choke them with a chain??? Even hitting them with a chain would be like slapping them with a towel right? Rocket River
Yeah, there's a lot of questionable stuff. You kind of have to turn the other way sometimes and just pretend haha. A perfect example is this: Spoiler After rewatching Avengers they clearly state that the spear he's given is powered by the cube. Yet the second he teleports in, it's active and he's owning people with it. Granted it could have been powered because it was in proximity...but I mean... And why did Dr. Selvig all of a sudden re-gain his own persona -- for no explainable reason? While the ship was falling, why weren't Loki / Agent Coulson being tossed around during the scene depicting Thor locked up? How the **** can the ship stay afloat with only one engine running? etc...etc...etc
Spoiler I believe Iron Man's attempt to blast the portal device resulted in a big enough bang to knock sense back into Selvig, a la Widow hitting Hawkeye in the head.
Spoiler Read the other ones, I just edited the post. Haha. Also...I don't think so because he was still very much under Loki's control after Iron Man fired on it initially. Much later in the fight for no good reason he just shakes his head and his all of a sudden himself. The natural explanation is "blah blah blah....Loki couldn't concentrate on controlling him during the fight and focusing on controlling the armor...and yadda yadda", but still...
Maybe you guys can help me understand this part: Spoiler What was with the whole Hawkeye side-plot where he steals the metal from the lab? What was it's purpose? If no one knows, no biggie- I'm going to go watch it again this week
