I didn't like the logo or the jerseys he came up with... pretty damn terrible if I'm gonna be honest. I don't know why everyone wants to go "old school" with designs. Times change, art changes, people change. I like modern-looking logos. And as far as simplicity goes, ours is already very simple.
New goal in life: speak in that manner at every opportunity. I would love the retro look. Someone with talent... get to work. (I was typing that with the over the top voice.)
Damn you guys are a bunch of f***ing hating ass MFs. That was f***ing awesome! I'm not a Pacers fan but you gotta love this guy's passion and love for his team and it's history.
Sorry but no, you're very wrong about this. Old school designs are a part of the team. Have the Celtics ever changed their logo? Not drastically at least. The Rockets roots are red and yellow, whether you like it or not. That's what we were. Now we have some spaceman uniform candy cane stripe mess with a horrible logo. Our logo is a R man.. come on. We aren't an MLB team. The Wizards went with an old school look and look GREAT! The Jazz went old school and also look badass. The Warriors also. Along with a few other teams. Spoiler Is not even comparable to Spoiler (especially after the fabric change..) >
Maybe Clutchfans as a community could help design a new logo and jersey collectively? Have some designers and artists create their own designs and let everyone vote on it. The winning design could then be presented in a video much like this one. I'd certainly love to see the red and yellow again.
Yeah, it's pretty unlikely I know. But I'd still like to see what the Clutchfans community as a whole wants to see in a redesign. Who knows? If the Pacers organization really considers it, maybe we can have a say as well.
Long forgotten is the "Thank God" sigh of relief most of us had when the Knicks beat the Pacers in 93-94, setting up Ewing vs. Olajuwon series, an epic battle the public and I, we, would want to watch. If the Pacer won that series, whew, well, it didn't happen. Thank God.
The Rockets uniforms are fine. I was actually okay with the original, but it changed to something worse. But then it changed again and I've grown to like the simple "R". It's classic. It is a logo that will hold true for 100 years. I can actually say the same thing about the latest Astros logo right now, but the powers that be are planning on changing that too...potential mistake... What has worked for other teams over time is a simple: "B" for the Redsox. or "NY" for Yankees. "C" for Cubs. When you can have one or a couple letters represent your team you've actually got something. When you mix the new and the young and get them with some marketing folks it's a bad combination when it comes to maintaining tradition. What we have now is fine.
I actually want to follow the Jazz route as far as redesigning jerseys, as blasphemous as that seems. We seem to have a correlation between both teams. We both had jerseys we did not wear for a long time (Green Early 80s Jazz jersey and the mid 70s with yellow 'HOUSTON' slanted). Then, we both switched to a slightly different jersey, and is where most fans of teams remember them in. Both teams had this jersey for a very long time. I'm talking about the purple and yellow Jazz uniforms and, my favorite, the championship Rocket uniforms, the ones we all know and love. Both teams changed their uniforms to more of a 90s feel, with large graphics and some funky designs, just a year apart. The Rockets converted to the dreaded 'Space Pajamas' while the Jazz had their icy mountain design. Both teams had gone all in at this point, trying to win a championship (again in our case) Later Jazz once again changed to the modern dark blue jersey, which felt very 2000s. Those damned things caused me some pain. The Rockets also changed, losing the yellow and coming up with a 'futuristic' attempt. Both designs were fairly hit or miss. I'm fine with our current uniforms, but it feels like they're lacking something. In the 10-11 season, the Jazz changed once again, bringing back an old school color scheme and design. I don't know about y'all, but I really dig their jerseys, even if they are the Jazz. It's a fresh spin on a classic. Unfortunately, the Rockets still are using the 'Space' uniform. What I've noticed is that each era, for both clubs, they had a franchise player. Late 70s/Early 80s: They had Adrian Dantley, we had Moses Malone Mid 80s till mid 90s: They had Stockton and Malone, we had Olajuwon and a revolving door of sidekicks, starting with Sampson, then Thorpe, and finally Drexler. Our star players were in the prime of their careers. We came out on top of course, winning 2 titles. Late 90s/Early 2000s: We switched to the space pajamas and traded away most of our young talent for Barkley, a move I don't regret. Unfortunately, age and injuries got to us and we faltered against the Jazz. Utah was very successful with their mountain range look, but still did not win. Both teams' stars were beginning to age and fall out of stardom. 2003-2009: With new uniforms came a new duo for both clubs. It was Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer against Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady. Two all star duos, yet neither had much success. The Jazz certainly had our number in the playoffs, and definitely had more success.n 2010s onward: The Jazz change things up, going back to a throwback color scheme and design. They're rebuilding with new faces and a new coach, and surprisingly, are doing well. The Rockets, however, are quite uncertain as to what they're shooting for; a high draft pick or a playoff seed? For both teams, their franchise players are long gone and have started over with a bunch of good, but not great, players. With Yao gone, perhaps its time we change our identities. The Jazz have had luck with their design change; perhaps we should be next. I'd love to see again the classic logo, the slanted 'HOUSTON' back on our jerseys, and the return of yellow to our color scheme, maybe even a yellow alternate. I wish I had some sort of idea on how to go about designing a jersey, but hopefully somebody, whether a member here or the Rockets org can create a modern look that manages to reflect back on the glory days of the Rockets. Maybe a jersey change may bring some luck. Changing to the blue pinstripes ruined ours; a change back to red and yellow may bring it back.
Glad to see that your posts are full of stupid in the GARM as well. You really don't see a difference between drawing an image or orchestrating a design scheme and programming a gaming engine (or improving aspects of an already existing, patented one?) We buy the tickets. We buy the jerseys. Surely, if a team got the right design, at the right time, a team would LOVE to buy the design and parade its fan origin. The claim that it was designed by a regular joe like you and I would be PR gold. ESPN2 would **** bricks. You really think Nintendo doesn't read the many suggestions/improvements because of legal concerns? You don't think that they could just jack the idea that the person offered up unsolicited and move right on with it? You really think that any revolutionary improvements to games are being ignored because of liablity concerns? Come on man. They say that so that 5-25 year old boys quite writing letters about how they're sick of getting beat by their older brother, and about how Jeremy Lin should be rated 99. Terrible comparison to illustrate a terrible point.
