going out to celebrate the big 5-0 this Saturday and was wondering if there were any suggestions for good dance music venues? Whether it be dance club, club, bar/music (Sambucca) type place. Would love to find a place that would be like the old Scott Gertner Sky bar on Montrose which has closed (and yes i know about his new place downtown). Any live music where they would play dance music would be of interest. Not really looking for the young 20 twenty something crowd. Ideally, hearing stuff like Earth, Wind, and Fire, Ohio players, Confunkshun, disco, any good funk dance music would be of interest. Fire away....
Scott Gertner's Skybar? Gay? You need to go to Capones. Great food, killer drinks, great live music of a non-douche variety (aka Blues and R&B), and very milfalicious scenery.
Capones. And...well, Saturday is Cinco de Mayo, so Salsa should be a very easy find somewhere, too...if you're willing to dance to that.
ThiSIsAlanR--funny. Thinking Chilis may be better than Applebees (for those don't know this is from "Hall Pass". BigMak--not a clubber. Not that this is a bad thing. Going out to dinner with the wife and than we wanted to go listen to some good music. Preferably music that you could dance to from time to time while there.
Not me, we play the funk. You may be thinking of Cannonball, the sax player who sits in with us every once in a while. I think he used to have a fulltime ska gig.
