Just when I thought someone's logic couldn't get worse than Skip Bayless I read this board and find that guy.
My point was an analytical not cocky. The clippers can win the series, but in 6 games. I mean throw out the teams and just go by the stats: how many visiting teams win a game 7 on the road? That's all I'm saying.
Grizz are a more solid team that has played well together for a long period, does not mean Clipps are much worse, they got better individual talent..... This one should be close.... Grizz have the advantage
The grizzlies hardly ever win the percentage battle from the floor. But what we do win, nearly ever game, is the shots on goal and points in the paint. The grizzlies don't have to hit 10 three pointers to win the game. They don't even have to get 5 threes. Just a couple timely ones is all that's necessary.
the last time i checked, no one gave a damn about 4-2 4-1 as long as you win the series. case in point: orlando won one in indiana, but everyone and their dog knew they were gonna be owned by the pacers. wow, wat do u see? an annihilation in orlando today. because we have been discussing cp3 the whole thread and he is the guy who carries the clippers, akin to the hornets last year. and if you still think the clips have a chance, then think about this: "in the playoffs big men matters". memphis has gasol and randolph. clippers have newly cherry-popped playoff virgin blake griffin. if you watch closely the massive comeback in game 1, all the points were off open jumpers and the clips hit an amazing rate of them. the only points scored that were scored off an offensive set or move was that beautiful up and under by blake griffin. do you think memphis will have a complete defensive breakdown like that again or the clippers are gonna be red-hot like that again, leading to a one point win? time to face the facts, boy.
Right, except you said the Grizz could win in 6, which is not gonna happen. Honestly, the Grizz don't impress me much. Their vaunted defense is based on fouling, which is why they are so much better at home. Don't expect all the holds and overthebacks to fly at Stples.
alright, im off. if anyones really stern on their reverie of a clippers series win, im down for a sig/tip jar bet. nothing too big though. but be warned, the jokes gonna be on you. ;-)
Well I picked Memphis before the series and would pick them in a Game 7 if that is what it came down to. Just saying that the Clips are capable of winning a Game 7 in Memphis. Also it doesn't matter how many visiting teams have won a Game 7 before the point is it is happened.
The clippers entire offense is based on getting the defense to go one way and then passing it to a open player. The clippers don't have anybody that can create his own shot but chris paul. Kenny Smith mentioned this in a round about way when he said that when chauncy billups went down they lost creativity on offense. The grizzlies have guys that can score in all three areas on the court: down low, midrange and beyond the 3 point line.
I haven't figured out if I underestimated the Clippers or overestimated the Grizzlies (or, if both, how much either way). After two games, the vibe I'm getting of the Grizzlies isn't the same as last year. If the Clippers don't suffer any more injuries, they have a good chance of taking this series. Even after the game 1 debacle, I could imagine Memphis winning 4 in-a-row. That seems unlikely now. We will learn a lot Saturday. IMO, it could still end up being a "statement" game for the Grizzlies.
Nick Young plays the Chauncy role just fine. Scoring isn't a problem for this team as they've obliterated the "amazing" grizzly defense both games. The problem has been rebounding, but the Grizz have gotten away with a lot of stuff that isn't going to fly in LA. I was worried about the Grizz defense before this series... Now, not so much. Clippers in 6.
Memphis was really good this game at getting calls from the refs. They are not going to get these calls in LA. Sadly for 'what' and the rest of the Memphis fans, the Grizzlies are going to lose this series.
Did anybody notice this? LOL LNSFW <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/T39YGAz28Fo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
i saw it. talk about desperate to touch an nba player. gasol was 8/7 tonight so i dont think being aroused helped get it going for him
Clips played out of their MINDS yesterday offensively and still lost. Great teams don't shoot that well on the road and lose. Sure, they could shore up the boards (but Memphis is big) and lower the TOs, but watching the game, you never sense Memphis was going to lose that game. You know they're not going to shoot 57% for an entire game again. I change my mind. I thought game 1 would change the tone of the series, but it didn't. Memphis was methodical in its win last night. This series ends in 6 in Memphis' favor. Clips will get 1 at home due to the team being pumped up from the home crowd, and it could be game 3.
His footwork was nuts on that play. I keep looking for the 3rd step because he covered so much ground there.
