    Just saw this

If Seau's death is confirmed by police, 8 players from the Chargers' 1994 Super Bowl team have now died.

That's like the 8th person from the 94 Chargers team that has died.

Well, they're about to eliminate kick offs completely (rumor) so they're getting close. Need more Rugby on TV.

Rumors saying that he shot himself in the head. Either way, R.I.P.
I remember him on the Pats team that almost went undefeated in '07.

Thats crazy. It could be the blows to the head or if they were juicing, that could've also been a factor.

Suicides can result from lots of things other than head trauma.

The mid-career to post-career transition for an NFL athlete has to the be harder than just about anything else. You truly move from peak emotions, millions of screaming fans, and combat being your regular routine to... mowing your lawn in a polo shirt, with one weird neighbor staring at you, and picking up kids from daycare.

Most of the other ones were car accidents, heart attacks, things of that nature IIRC

Damn that's just insane, truly shocked. Having grown up a diehard Bears fan, he was one of the few guys outside of my team I liked.

Very sad news...pretty scary considering he drove his SUV off a cliff 1.5 yrs ago. I guess it was just a matter of time. :(

Yeah, and I think it's a lot, lot less intense and violent of a life/sport/experience. I'm not saying head trauma isn't at play here -- it probably does play a significant role in their psychology. I'm saying head trauma is not the only issue.

In a lot of ways these guys (NFL retirees) are like returning war veterans, given the level of violence they've come to expect in every day life.
