Obama is in real danger of getting swiftboated by retired Seals if he keeps trying to use the OBL raid to score political points.
I find it both amusing, and pathetically sad, that the far-right Republican/"Tea Party" folks find it necessary to attack President Obama for finally taking care of business and killing that unspeakably evil b*stard, bin Laden. They simply can't stand that it was a Democratic President, a Black Democratic President, no less, who took out the son of a b****. You should all be ashamed, and I can tell you, without fear of contradiction from anyone with an operating brain, that the vast majority of Americans (not to mention hundreds of millions around the world) are damned glad he did. Why don't you all go take a cold shower and wash the filth off, OK? The odor is getting rank around here.
link? Why would Navy Seals decide they need to start lying about Obama like the Swift Boat campaign lied about Kerry? It makes no sense.
Right? To this day these knuckledraggers are so myopic they don't understand "swiftboated" is a euphemism for lying. But they'll keep thinking it's a good thing.
Good Point! from TPM -- Just What Mitt Doesn’t Need I’m watching John Bolton on Fox saying how President Obama is being “unpresidential” by promoting his taking down of Osama bin Laden. At the same time, Donald Rumsfeld is piping up to criticize Obama on the same point. And therein lies a big problem for Mitt Romney. It stands to reason that Bolton, Rumsfeld et al. are going to be the first to leap to Mitt’s defense here. It’s in their abundant self-interest to do so. But the last thing Romney needs are the dead-enders from the last administration forming a very public phalanx around him. That’s politically deadly. Then again, who on the Republican side has the national security cred anymore to be an asset for Mitt? It’s a big problem.
everyone's glad OBL is dead. what strikes some of us as unseemly, is Obama's insistance on taking the credit, "my efforts, my initiative, my direction..." as opposed to giving credit where credit is due- the brave men and women who spent years developing intelligence and tracking OBL, and the Navy Seals who actually carried out the mission. seriously, "my intelligence service?"
What strikes me as awesome is that Republican crybabies are keeping this in the news cycle for so long with disingenuous attacks, like the one above, leading to today's capitulation from the Mitt-ster in an attempt to turn the page: And this of course is on the anniversary of the day when Osama bin Laden finally was taken out. And we respect and admire the many people who were part of that, from the president who authorized that attack, to the intelligence community who worked on it for so many years to identify where he was and of course to the members of our armed services, particularly SEAL Team Six that took the extraordinary risk of going into Pakistan and removing one of the world's worst characters. The respect and admiration is NOTED.
