Vassilis Spanoulis, used to play for the Rox, but he sucked in the NBA and went back overseas. Plays for Olympiacos Piraeus right now.

yeah of course know him from Olympiakos, just couldn't connect. Well he made/has a good career in europe and probably got more money here than overseas. Otherwise don't like his style either and I'm referring to Rubio not DMo. Pretty slow, forcing shots, need to have ball in his hands otherwise he's nowhere to be found. Have to admit I didn't know he was there, but am not shocked he didn't succeed.

Of course, at a certain point, basketball is basketball. But you must admit at such a high level of play, even slight differences in style and environment can have a huge effect on a player. Look at ibrahimovich at barca, or Torres at Chelsea (he's adjusting well now though).

I wouldn't be disappointed if he wasn't Nowitzkis level either. I do think he's worth the risk at 20 though, so I'm glad the rockets got him. I like him more than say.. Jan Vesley, even though he's made strides as well.

Torres scored a hat-trick last time I checked...no he did have difficult time adjusting there, so you're right. But it's not the same thing comparing, I don't know Spanish league with Premier league in soccer or Polish with NBA in basketball, not even close the same level. True, there are some cases we could argue about and that supports your theory: Batum, Gogi, Nowitzki, Parker as well...seem to have better careers in NBA (usually it's the other way around), but they went there quite young, so they really didn't have time to achieve something great back here...
Anyway I've always liked Houston Rockets, been fan, maybe becoming one again thanks to Scola, GD, well Camby too, so I'd actually like him to turn out to be a good pick for the club.
...hopefully with Zoran&Goran Dragič on the team!...:p

I don't think he was that bad, just didn't get along with JVG.

Prokom will play at 12:30 ET today at what will be the deciding game of the quarter finals (Series is tied 2-2).
If D-Mo and company lose, it will have been their last game of the season.

Don't think it's going to be televised, but I'll check again later.

    From LituanianBasketball.com

Great Britain, the hosts of the Olympics, gave a promise to Lithuanian Basketball Federation to warm-up before the Olympics in Houston. The sides have agreed for a friendly game at some point in June.

GB basketball team will prepare for the Olympics in Houston, where Chris Finch, the head coach of GB team, works as an assistant coach for NBA side Houston Rockets.

Lithuania also is related to the club as Arturas Karnisovas, former Lithuanian national team player, works as international scout for the Rockets.

Thank Chris Finch for putting this together. Looks like Donatas will be in Houston sometime as early as the end of May/Early June. After that, he should be headed to London for the Olympics in late July and will probably be back to start his official pre-season training in August. That is if he makes the Olympic team.

If he doesn't make the team then he will most likely be on the Rockets Summer League team and working out with the team all throughout July.

Now, Im not 100% about the rules in this case, but Im pretty sure he can work out with no restrictions with the Rockets staff even if he isn't signed until the July 11th date. The only restrictions I can think of is if his contract wit Prokom prohibits it.

If you tweet or email Jason Friedman, you might be able to convince him to get some video or face time with Donatas for an interview when he's in town.

So either way, Donatas is going to be in Houston back and forth alot this Summer. hopefully we get to see him in London rather than Vegas. I think that competition would be more beneficial for him overall, but either way we are going to get a good look at him this Summer.

Hmm... I wonder if these Lithuania vs. Britain warmup games will be open to the public. If it were up to me, I'd sell tickets.
