    EXACTLY

While I think the best Bulls team was better than the best Rockets team, that has absolutely nothing to do with BS we have to listen to. If that were the case, then every title won by every team is an asterisk title.

It is just as easy to speculate exactly the opposite. What if a tired MJ didn't retire, went to the final against the Rockets and was completely manhandled. Some of the teams that make it to the finals and lose, never recover. Maybe it would have stopped at 3 and MJ would only be considered a great player among many others.

Oddly enough, my only take on the whole MJ thing is that it's not just a matter of if he stayed or not. If he stayed, he'd have taken up a ton of the Bulls' salary cap. They would've certainly not had the chance to sign Ron Harper. Would they have resigned Grant? They probably would've had Grant but not traded for Rodman. Would MJ had stayed motivated enough for all "eight" of the Bulls championships? Or do we have to put astricks in for the Bulls last two championships because MJ would've been bored by then?

I remember a few years ago someone had posted a thread on clutchfans about the misconception of the 94-95 titles and how Michael played his best during the 95 playoffs and still lost.. I was getting my information from that memory but maybe I read it wrong because, you're right, it wasn't his best playoffs.

But still, that aside, it's not as if MJ was rusty from taking a year and a half off.

Ya mj put up 52 gianst the Knicks early on in the come-back I slough at the notion -Shaquille his ol pal Horace (who ya was needed mj ), and penny (his best playoffs ever) beat the living pulp outta them bc it went 7 games and mj even had to switch numbers and get fined for those oh so fly shoes. Mj please if he was honest he'd tell u he took the number down like he thought that night he would be on a all out win streak for the next banner. Mj was not rusty n fact maybe as hungry as he ever had been.

No kidding. Rose gets injured so this season needs an asterisk? What a freakin' idiot. I'm not going to bother saying anything about our championships. Ignorant people will just have to continue being bereft of a fully functioning brain in that regard. Someday, I hope they're able to pull what's left of Jordan's jock out of their nostrils. I thought better of Simmons before this.

    Awesome.

I also want to call BS on 1973. The Celtics won 68 games, but nearly 30% of their losses came against the Knicks, during the regular season. (4-4), in fact during the season the Knicks had 4-2 edge at one point.

Also, Havilcek didn't get injured until later in the series, and it was after the Celtics were down 3-1, already.

I wish some sportwriters wouldn't treat all of us fans as we are simple, common mooks who have no concept of history or actuality.

Besides, I've watched most of the games of that series on NBA TV. Celtics met their match against the Knicks, sort of like how the Bulls would've met their match against the Rockets in 94 and ... 95, possibly.

Fatal Flaw #1. Nobody to guard Olajuwon. Nobody to slow down Olajuwon. No one to breath on Olajuwon.
Fatal Flaw #2. A Jordan stopper of sorts ... with Vernon Maxwell and three long armed defenders behind him Horry, Thorpe, and Olajuwon.
    Fatal Flaw #3. Rebounds
    Fatal Flaw #4. Better Bench

And why do we care what Bill Simmons thinks? No different than any other person on twitter with a opinion. NEXT

Simmons has had some good moments. Very funny articles and made some good calls. But he had his bad times too. One example was his prediction that Yao over Jay Williams would be worse than Bowie over Jordan.

But this one wasn't an opinion thing. First, its' about facts. As a journalist, he should at least have got the fact straight about '95 playoffs. Second, the logic was terrible, as so many here have already pointed out.

Exactly, more reasons NOT to care. I have never been impressed with these so called experts. They get paid to talk sports. Something we all do for free. There is no special training or schooling needed to discuss sports. So if someone that gets paid to do this for a living, cant get their facts straight, why should I waste my time on him?

But lots of people seem to care what guys like Skip Bayless, Barkley or Simmons has to say about the Rockets. I dont get it. I see no diffence between them and many of us here on clutch fans. At least on clutcfans you have real interaction with people and their thoughts. Tweeting Bill Simmons does nothing for me.

I'd be curious to see if he actually has a response for this or the fact that MJ did play in 95.

If last year was any indication...Just because you have the best players in the world on ur team...and team with better chemistry wins everytime...The Rockets in 93-94...had mad chemistry...and by the time 94-95 came...they just finished stunning the Suns...they got hot at the right moment and went home with 2...

MJ in his prime vs Hakeem would have been amazing to watch....But Houston still wins...

I wouldn't put asterisks on lockout years either. The playing field was still level. The difficulty of winning doesn't change. The only championship I might asterisk is the year the refs stole from the Sac Kings.

Doesn't Rose have to have won something before he's worthy of this? He got destroyed by the Heat in the playoffs last year. What has he done to prove this year would be any different?

I can see putting 09 & 78, because the defending champs weren't really able to defend because their key guy was missing. But in that case, what about 2000 as well? Duncan got injured and missed the entire playoffs. That would put an asterisk on two of the three Shaq/Kobe championships.

If we're going to asterisk 2009, it should be because of Yao Ming's injury...
