No. But who cares. Maybe when he was traded here last year he didnt know how long he was going to be here so he got the Target college apartment special deal. Im not sure if you guys realize that he doesn't live here. His apartment/condo whatever is pretty much just a hotel room for him. So what if the guy didnt want to blow half a million dollars on some penthouse suite when he didn't even know if he was going to be here in two weeks.
most underrated thread of the week! It's made my breakfast mornings full of glory. lol seven pages of tv brand and no one has wished gogi a glorious vacation.
Seemed like a negotiating ploy to me. His agent doesn't want Morey to lowball Dragic, thinking that he'd give the Rockets a home-town discount because he wouldn't want to move. Show the Rockets he's completely moving out anyway and they have to bid the same as if he was a free agent from Portland or Atlanta or wherever.
Clearly he's doing the whole "chex mix boring potato chip bag so people don't steal my chex mix" bit. If everyone knows he has a big TV, all the moochers will be over there eating his chex mix and watching his TV.
That makes sense. If I was his agent I would do the same. But I would also advise my client to also understand that to get the best deal he has to be willing to move. If you want a real clue where he stands ask his girlfriend. I do not know how the Rockets treated her here but if she's like most loving girlfriends she wants to protect her man. She knows Morey dumped Gogi less than a year ago and she knows better than anyone how that made him feel terrible. If they visit Portland and she loves it there I think she will say, "Honey I don't trust Morey. He traded you already. He might do it again. Let's start fresh in Portland." Packing may be a ploy for Gogi and his agent. But it also means Gogi is cutting his roots here and preparing to leave if necessary.
Have a glorious vacation, Gogi. You've earned it. DM knows it'd be career suicide to let you get away, so this is your team, your city, your home. Your fans ask only: Please stay in shape and come back focused on leading us to championships!
From my understanding, he's gone, permanently. If he really wants to stay, he won't pack everything and then resign with Rockets 2 months later, find new apartment and do unpacking again. IMO, the talk of staying with rockets is to have more options.
If you were about to sign a contract worth at least $20m, would you bother packing your stuff before you knew where you were moving to so you can save a couple thousand dollars? I'd just use the apartment for storage until I found the perfect place in Portland, and then pack.
If was about to make $20MM I wouldn't be packing up the stuff Gogi had in that apartment to take anywhere beside the dump or goodwill. How do we know he wasn't packing up that stuff to give away or sell because he knew he would be upgrading his life soon.
look what i bought for my grandmother.. lol.. because of this thread and someone posting a link to the tv at best buy.. i swear she has no idea what the terms 720p, HDMI, or LCD mean but its an upgrade over her current tv, which is some 20something inch zenith tube. got my mother a 40" samsung a few years ago but i didnt want to go that route this time..
