Certainly I haven't watched the Grizzlies as much as you, maybe saw them in 10 games this year. They've had missing players in some, but so have the Clippers (eg, Mo Williams didn't play in the last one and the roster was completely different in the first one). I'm not seeing these huge matchup advantages they have. Like I said, they have a little more size and more depth. Gay is a tough cover because the Clippers don't have a quality SF defender, but they've done OK against those types of players. Between Blake, DJ, Martin, and Evans, they have enough bigs to throw at Gasol, Randolph, and Speights. On the other hand, I don't think the Grizzlies have an answer for CP3. If Conley gets in foul trouble, they are screwed. I assume the plan will be to have Allen guard him but CP3 is the smartest player in the league and I don't see that messing with his gameplan like it did with chucker Kobe. You can't really zone the Clippers because they have a lot of good shooters. If those shooters are off, they aren't winning the series regardless. All I've ever said is that it'll be a good series and if you take that as some kind of insult because the Clippers finished 1 game below the Grizzlies in the standings, then I don't know what to tell you. Like I said, I don't see either of these teams getting past the 2nd round because right now the Spurs are playing the best basketball in the NBA, bar none (Grizzlies winning streak against the bottom feeders notwithstanding).
Please don't involve douchebug in this thread. I have him on ignore but it shows up when people respond to him. This thread has nothing to do with Kobe or his LeBron obsession, so there's no reason for him to bring his stench in here.
2/10 of the ESPN guys picked the Clippers to win and the others all chose the Grizzlies in 6 or 7. I didn't see the teams against each other in the regular season so maybe the Clips shouldn't be big underdogs. I just cannot see the Clips winning 4 times but you have to play the games. Caron Butler can't play like a worthless chump and Deandre Jordan needs to produce more than 7 pts, 8 rebs. They can't win with CP3 and Griffin having to score 30+ points each. Williams, Foye and Young (all of whom I consider shaky) have to hit from long range. Bottom line is too many things have to go right for the Clippers. They don't have a margin for error. The Grizzlies have plenty.
The Grizzlies seem like a really trendy pick to make some noise this postseason. I can see the thinking behind that, but I don't think it's any kind of lock that they win this series. Anytime you have a player that can dominate a playoff series like Chris Paul did on several occasions with New Orleans, you can't be counted out.
What is gonna be the biggest griffin and possibly cp3 basher once all is said and done. This is the floppy jazz team of the 2012 playoffs.
This grizzlies team is not going to get any better than it is right now. What I am trying to say is that the development period for the grizzlies is over in a sense. So, it is quite possible (if the grizzlies are championship material) we will see it this year. If we aren't, then we aren't. The only real growth with this team will be trying to get hca throughout the playoffs, and maybe Rudy Gay getting more experience in the playoffs. Aside from that, I don't see any reason why the grizzlies can't come out of the west. They have size, speed, low post scores, 3 point shot makers, defenders, a bench. We have everything except what most people discount our team for: a superstar. Other than a bonafide superstar we have everything.
yeah the grizzlies do have a shot to make it to the finals, but they have to get through 3 tough series. It definitely won't be easy
